Black History Month On Monday, February 24, 1986. the student body and faculty of Barbara Jordan was honored to have Congressman Mickey Leland deliver a most inspiring speech. Mr. Leland said in his speech that success does not come about because of your race, the amount of money you have, or because of your neighborhood. Rather success comes to those who have the ability and endurance for life. Donna Hamilton I believe when I do start out in my quest for success, one of the things I will most definitely do is pray to God and I will also believe in myself to the fullest. Kimberly Spiller My present actions and attitude are being, looking, sounding, and doing the best. Leland Gives Inspiring Speech I am very proud of my color and my heritage. I will always try to be the best I can be. No matter what color 1 am or where I come from, I will never be ashamed.
