New inspira- tions and hopes enable us to fight on . . . 10-Tryouts for cheerleading proved that the school's best yellers are J. Maxwell, T, Hawkins, M. Krugman, B. Meyer, and P. Dibble . . . 17-Freshmen got off to a flying start as Mr. Bevens directed the study of human emotions. Some people just can't be understood though . . . Home economics classes stressed straight lipstick and combed hair for that Fri- day night date. Some people are wondering about the turbans that appear in school on Fridays - stylish or not? . . . 19-First class meeting for juniors . . . 23-Just a jab in the arm so we all survived our T.B. tests. OCTOBER- 3-Myrna Alberts made soap as a science project. NJ excuse for dirt in BHS when it is so simple . . . 7-Otto Schacht - Activity program . . . 10--Mr. Bevens sported a black eye this week. The space between tackle and end is rather small . . . 13-A fresh supply of squirt guns on the local market made a great deal of trouble for a few gentlemen Fred Kohlapp and Joe Luce could give you con- siderable information pertaining to the matter . . . 14-Round-up of squirt guns in junior high also. Miss Mettel found another gray hair as the last sophomore filed from her room after completing the library course . . . 30-Art Hook and his Alaskan experiences . . . 30-Halloween and Homecoming. Everyone suffer- ed a few crushed toes, but no one denied having a wonderful time at the Senior- Sophomore Shuffle. NOVEMBER- 10-What an unforgettable night A snake dance aroused considerable at- tention, particularly from the Baraboo Police Department . . . 13-Members of the junior class play cast decided it was time to go hack to studying again. The classroom certainly lacks the glamor of the stage . . . 14-Who was Bob Walker's wife in the play the freshmen presented? It wasn't Aggie! . . . 22-What was that horsey smell? Not the chemistry classes again! No - - this time it was the Fig Top. DECEMBER- l-Elzie Brown . . . 8-Mr. Jones assured the 4th hour study hall that he wouldn't let his charges freeze. Curt Page, among others, lacked confidence and ltept his eyes on the thermometer . . . ll--The F. F. A. Banquet kept many out after hours. Some weren't even back to school the next day! It was worth the trouble though . . . 12-Who was the culprit who strung the teachers' boots out- side the window and tied their coats in knots? . . . 19-Class rooms filled with gay laughter and carols. The Christmas spirit prevailed as we packed up our books for an enjoyable two weeks' vacation . . . 30-Grandma lost her eyelet pet- ticoat as the girls took on the New Look. JANUARY- 14-16-Semester tests. Remember? . . . 19-Juniors made news as they par- ticipated in a bloodless battle over an open prom . . . 25-Mr. Scott revived soph- omores as they inhaled the enticing aroma of formaldehyde and frog dissection began. FEBRUARY- 6-SWEA teachers convention and an activity dance . . . 7-Fred Spooner and his war dogs . . . 16-Mr. Gilbert stopped in to answer questions for the 3rd hour junior English class and found A. K. wearing a disguise . . . 21-Fresh- men boys on the basketball team looked mighty pale. Have a doughnut, Bill? . . . 22-Duane Dickie, Don Wilson, and Bob Luce were nominated for Junior Prom King. MARCH- 2-Tuberculosis Skin Testing . . . 3-Freshmen English classes displayed two notebooks on Wisconsin edited by Mary Lenihan and Barbara Eschenbach . . . 4-Louella Banks proved that she had practiced for ner last important gesture in Clair de Lune. Her black and blue knees couldn't be denied . . . 8-Miss Enright went to the Ag-Thalia Plays, and she missed her favorite programs of Joseph Cotten and Rudy Vallee - - just to see Conrad as Gramps . . . 12-Bara- teen received a gift of Dick Hayme's records from Jean's Club . . . 13-Now what was that about Lee Kinney's peanuts in the fifth hour English class . . . 15- Gareth Dictionary Encyclopedia Graves apparently expected April showers early: at least, he wore his rubbers to class all day . . . 16-After several weeks of argu- ment Nancy Brannon still insisted that Henry Ford was the original automobile inventor. We have just one question - - How much commission does she receive? . . . 17-Farm Institute and Betty Solum was one of the soloists - - pig calling. . . 19-Mr. Smith had two major problems this year. If it wasn't Taft or Stal- in, it was Pat Morton, second hour . . . 18-Junior class rings arrived and some people wore their own for several days. APRIL- 2-Sophomore class ls insolvent: no means of paying for their Minnewaukan pages. Freshmen solved the matter by donating a few hard earned pennies . . . 3-Everyone talked about Stassen: his speech, how he shook hands, and the au- tographs he distributed . . . 8-Spring days made the sophomores wish their driving course included a few long distance trips . . . 23-At last the big moment arrived when the bells rang as lovely Juliets with gorgeous corsages and handsome Romeos with neat tuxedoes danced to the music of Cliff Gomon's orchestra at the Junior Prom. E Never was there a more popular king and queen than Don and Joan. To Tubby DuPuis and committee, congrat- ulations for your fine interpretation of the theme, The Serenade of the Bells . MAY- 3-Plantation Singers presented the final activitv program of the venr . . . 7-Spring with all its glory turns the young man's fancy to love, the old saving goes. Now that the Prom has come and gone, many a young man's fancy has gone astray again . . . 24-Exams again and just as difficult as usual for most of us . . . June 4-The End - - away with care for three whole months.
