TENNIS lioli Yogel and lamoine Larrahee on the doubles and Russ l'otratz and Landon Risteen as the singles men drilled under their new mentor, Mr. Brown. They had a fair season last year. The team went into the first match without the ser- xices of .lolm Meyers who was called to the Marines. XYhile putting up a good fight, Baraboo lost to a vet- eran Reedslwurg team S to 1. The return match was finally cancelled liecause of rain. ln the match with Portage, the doubles team losl and the singles men won. ln the return match, l'or- tage really turned on the heat and won -l to O. Still stinging from this defeat, the hoys went to Mad- ison for the conference meet. Due to the efforts of Russ l'otratz, the team ended in fourth place, with lit. Atkin- son nosing out Reedshurg for first place. The team gain- ed four points in the district meet at Madison through l.andon Risteen's efforts. TR .XCR liarahoo opened its track season with a rather in- experienced squad. but hard training plus the will to win produced a successful season. ln their first meet, which was with XYisconsin lligh, liarahoo overwhelmed them 75 to 349. Reedshurg and XYiseonsin Dells fell to Haralaoo's power in a triangular meet. The improving trackmen then met Reedshurg, VVisconsin Iligh, and Vtfisconsin Dells in an Invitational and won easily with 72 points. The Southern Ten Von- ference meet proved to he a tluiller. Un a rainy, nmd- soaked track, llarahoo lost the championship to lfort Atkinson hy a score of 67 to 65. ln the Sectional, which replaced the State Tourna- ment, llarahoo placed third, totaling 22 points. Outstanding performers for liarahoo last year were Capt. lid. Zellmer, Lewis liorck, Tom Donahue, and .Xdair lllisch. Unfortunately no track picture was taken last spring hecause of the improhalmility of an annual this year. INTRAM L7 R .X LS This year the intramurals started with the Rockets. last year's winners as favorites. At the start of the sea- son, the li squad and the 2nd XVard also looked good hy heating the lst and 3rd XYards. As the season progress- ed, so did the lst VVard for at the end of the season they had won 5, losing only one, to cop first place. Second place was held hy the Rockets who had won 4 and lost 2. hoth to the lst 'XVard, the last of which decided the con- ference winner. li Squad came in third and Srd XVard l.ast. :Xccording to custom, the lst XVard champs played the faculty in the final highlight of the season.
