V, Celebrity Ball provided an enjoyable evening of dancing, Music and dancing set the scene for the Junior Senior 1977, which was held on April 29, 1977 at the Francis Marion Hotel in downtown Charleston. The band for the evening was Celebrity Ball, and during the Band's breaks entertainment was provided by a Hillbilly group from Baptist College. The Junior Senior was a formal affair, and everyone seemed to en- joy the evening. The setting for the occasion was beautiful, and the Junior class was to be congratulat- ed on a well planned event. happeningsfll

W Ess DAM PENS HolvlEcolvuNe 19 7 7 Homecoming weekend, February 17-19 was promised to be differ- ent, but it proved to be more differ- ent than anyone had expected. A dance was planned for Friday, the 18th with Celebrity Ball providing the entertainment and music from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Members of the basketball team sponsored girls for the title, and students voted during Convoca- tion. The whole week was to be filled with activities culminating in the crowning of the 1977 Home- coming Queen. During half-time at Saturday night's basketball game against Madison College, the girls and their escorts were to be intro- duced. A reception, after the game, was planned in honor of the new queen. Pamela Jean Harvey was elected Homecoming Queen for 1977, but none of the festivities so looked for- ward to by everyone were a part of her coronation. The plug was pulled on Baptist College, and the place was shrouded in black . . . yes, it was one of those memorable BCC blackouts. No lights, no heat, no hair dryers ,... everyone was frantic. All the Homecoming activities were forgotten in the rush to find when or if classes would be held, or if we just might get an extra holi- day. Meanwhile, it was candle city: eerie shadows down the hall . . . wax all over the place. . .fumbling in the desk for keys . . . grabbing up all the flashlights in the school . . . security guards on the lookout for prowlers . . . some people studying by lantern light . . . the girls bringing out the bandanas . . . even the guys missed the hair dryers. . . no clocks, no alarms, no reason to get up. To the new stu- dents it was an experience, but re- turning students were old pros at dealing with Baptist College black- outs. ' What a Homecoming!
