From ur President: Dear Friends: We live in astonishing times! The gleaming wings of science, to borrow a phrase from Sir Winston Churchill, have brought to us a paradoxical cargo of unexampled banes and blessings. Science has made almost unbelievable break-throughs in re- cent years. A few pounds of uranium can either light a great city for many days or blow it completely off the map in split seconds. Modern media of communications have made the inhabitants of the earth our next door neighbors. Satellite -based tele- vision will soon provide constant live coverage of significant happenings which transpire around the world. The electronic computer has triggered a fantastic growth in human knowledge. By the early 1970's we shall achieve a monthly reduplication of the total accretion of human knowledge. Human population is exploding in a spectacular man- ner. There will be twice as many humans by the end of this century. Space explora- tion provides a fitting capstone to this pyramid of unparalleled developments. Our nation and the Soviet Union are locked in a multibillion dollar struggle to determine which will be the first to put an actual man on the moon. Contemporary man is ill-equipped to cope with these unprecedented changes. One writer has described our generation as a company of inexperienced sailors adrift in the worst storm in history, without chart or compass and with mutiny on shipboard. The born-again believer cannot be included in such a category. Christ is adequate even when tried in the crucible of this extraordinary hour. Christians are not adrift and at the mercy of the raging billows. We are possessed of a hope which anchors our souls. The Scriptures eloquently express our happy condition in these words:- To this hope we anchor the soul safely and securely and it reaches on into the Holy of Holies where Jesus entered in for us in advance, when I-le be- came High Priest forever of the Melchisedec order. fl-Iebrews 6:19 and 20 - Berkleyj The Seminarion Staff, with deep appreciation for this safe anchorage, has chosen as this year's theme the motto: Anchored in Jesus. We trust that you are enjoying the security of this haven. Should this not be the case, our Saviour bids you enter without delay.
