That person is Mr. James Rusk. Mr. Rusk has spent 11 dedicated years teaching Western Civilization and Psychology. In addition to teaching, he has become very involved as 'student activities advisor'' and has devoted many hours to the students of B.H.S. Mr. Rusk has always been the kind of person that can be depended upon to supervise at dances and other activities. At all times o f the day, Mr. Rusk can be seen with numerous students talking, and of course always laughing and joking. Many of his friendly student-teacher talks have helped students on their long road to the outside world. Everyone needs someone to whom they can turn, to talk their problems out with and to confide in. Mr. Rusk is that person to all. Always there when needed, Mr. Rusk is always more than willing to help students decide upon which road to take. His unfailing pride in B.H.S. has encouraged many to keep on trying. More than a teacher, he's a friend; and because of this the 1976-77 annual is dedicated to him. The faculty at B.H.S. is an understanding group that students feel are their teachers and advisors as well as their friends. Annual Staff asked the faculty for advice they would give students as the time nears to set out on the road to life. i PR rt ADMINISTRATION Be honest and true to yourself. The senior year marks the end of being a “kid'' and the beginning of adult- hood. Being a senior is the initial step to making your own decisions. Those are the important decisions that will affect your future. A new concept is not only learned, but experienced also - that concept of, “If I don't do it, it won't get done. ' But fortunately, being a senior can be great. There are certain things which only the graduating class may participate in. The fact that being a senior classman is spe- cial, makes a senior FEEL special. 32 SENIOR PERSONALITIES FRIENDLIEST — Jeff Hagler and Lisa Latham Michelle Quick and Frank Negrete SIS BEST SENSE OF HUMOR BEST ALL AROUND Terry Becerra and Beth Coombs Tommy Johnson and Kathy Campbell y Wein) aS i eciw WR RAR oan aaa MA MOST SPIRITED BEST DRESSED Laura Little and Grant Courtney Susan Wall and Gordon Leary CUTEST MOST ATHLETIC Travis Bryant and Kris Lister Sandra Koczon and Avery Frierson 33 MOST TALKATIVE BIGGEST NUT Richard Barber and Debbie Villalobos Bob Naus and Jeanene Pehau BIGGEST FLIRT SHYEST Doreen Miranda and Roger Kerr Anita Hughes and Mike Smith 34 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS 36 A bint Blake Anderson Judi Lynn Atkinson Band 1, 2, 3. The first three years in high school can be the most trying period of that growth. Sharing experiences with new friends and accepting humilia- tion from upperclassmen are a few of the highlights that an underclassman goes through. But the best thing about being an underclassman is that you have a little longer to procrasti- nate about the upcoming respon- sibility of being a senior. May 29, 1961 ‘to , | we July 31,1976 oe July 31, 1976 ACTIVITIES Having people get together, work with each other, make decisions, and have a good time is an important part of growing up. The clubs of Banning High School are 'active' ' because of the people that put them together, and make them work. Knowing that a dance may be coming up, that a club will soon be sponsoring a field trip to Disneyland (con- veniently during school hours), or that the last 55 minutes of school will be spent at an assembly for the basketball team, gives the school year a few more things to look forward to. Activities are what give the student body pep, the ability to accept responsiblity and the reassurance that school doesn't have to be all work, it can be fun! A. S. B. This is the feeling an athlete receives from participating in the sports program. Even more important, with most sports, is the ability to really be a team. For many people to play as one entity is very difficult to accomplish. But at one time or another this oneness is achieved. It seems that practice is the hard part and the anticipation to play is even worse. But to know you are number one is worth all the running that the coach made you do. The self-satisfaction felt from knowing you were a part of that team and you helped make those points, is the best feeling in the world. The purchase of ads by businesses and companies is what the staff depends upon most for the money to produce the annual each year. The entire staff would like to thank the community for its cooperation and support. The annual lives up to the saying that it is ''The Pride of Banning. This year 2 was chosen as“annual staff editor and I felt very honored, because I really think we are a very hard-working and dedicated group. Eventhough sometimes we wander in and out the classroom (mostly everyday), we do get the job done! I feel that being a member of the annual staff is a very important responsibility, because the members are hand-picked and if you happen to be one of those who are chosen, you should feel proud that you were picked to prepare the annual. I would like to express my appreciation to Terisa Guerth for a fine job on the cover, and to the members of the faculty for letting the members of the annual staff out of class to work on our yearbook. I also would like to thank Mrs. Kaku for being cool, calm, and understanding when things didn't go right. I feel that thisis an annual that we all can look back on and that will remind us of all the good memories of Banning High School. ger ce he 168 year ‘coup. er of , who for ee LS Seams WV ae = —_— ad “ —_ Vv = = S C — c 4 Ca . re ya ¥ rat ss ] —= x - = FON A cc — ) ya VY s iy = = 2 — ——— ) ( — — = = ‘ by f = = = ( aeslae = a = , aA =— . , fy |} A ‘oe ‘ Yaa Se as —s —— aS oe y, C = OE hb ee!
