English, Bookkeeping, Typing DEDICATION In the composition of any work of art there are three prerequisites: an artist, the tools with which he works, and subject matter. The artist can be either a sculptor, a painter, a writer, or a composer; above all he is a creator. The tools the artist uses vary with what he is creating and so does his subject matter, but even so the end results are always alike in that they are original works of art. The San Gorgonian also is an original work of art which needs a composer, tools he can use, and subject matter. We, the students of Banning Union High are the subject matter, the annual staffs are the tools, but who is the artist, the composer? Mr. Joe Waters, the annual staff advisor, of course. For the past eight years the San Gorgonian has been printed under the supervision of Mr. Waters for the enjoyment of the students of Banning Union High. Each year the credit fdr this annual publication has gone to the respective annual staff, but we, mere tools used to produce the yearbook, know that the real credit should go to Mr. Waters as our annual staff advisor. Only through his dedication, effort, and drive do we have a finished annual each year. Without his leadership, pep talks, and general know-how the annual staff would be at a loss most of the time. So, unknown to him, we have affectionately dedicated 10the 1961 San Gorgonian to Mr. Joe Waters, annual staff advisor. Seniors . Mary Abras Mr Philtip Amick Mr. Harold Klein Eddie Switzer Pres. (Camera Shy) Ingrid Nelson President Senlors These high and mighty rulers have con- quered the past four years of high school by a variety of methods that they refuse to divulge. It has been observed by the senior class of '61 that they will never be equalled in the years to come. Others opinions don't count. The play was a comedy portray- ing two excited girls, determined to be in- dependent, embarking on a voyage to Paris. They Kave an exciting adventure with a stowaway, the leader of the ship's band (whom they mistake for an admiral), all kinds of fancy sea sick remedies, life pre- servers, fog horns, and two handsome young medical students. Just before the ship lands, Cornelia comes down with measles. Assisted by the medical students, Cornelia passes medical inspection in an uproarious scene. In Paris the girls become involved with an exploding gas meter, a bed slept in by Cardinal Richelieu, and a noted French actor. The delightful play closes with the girls saying, good bye to a ‘wonderful summer. Hey! What's that pink elephant doing on the ceiling? Say, here comes another one in the door!
