to Earle B. Powell We want to express our appreciation not only tor his unselfish devotion to our welfare, his helpful guidance and instruction, but also for what he represents. He is understanding and fair and square in all his dealings. He embodies the principles he teaches. To top it all off, he has a grand sense of humor that makes it a pleasure to work with him. ----dedication, 1944 San Gorgonian To the best of our knowledge, a yearbook has never before been dedicated twice to the same person, but we break this precedent to add our recognition to the many others, of Earle B. Powell's 30-year career of service and leadership in education. 26 of those were in Banning as teacher, principal, and finally, superintendent of both the Elementary and High School districts of this city. During his tenure four school bonds were approved in an extensive program of rehabilitation and construction whichsaw a doubled expansion of class- room and campus areas. A new Junior High School plant, now under construction, is the most recent in a long line of achievements to meet the community needs from which Mr. Powell can derive a great sense of pride and accomplishment. Sowe, too, concur withthe community, and Mrs. Walter J. Lauck,P.T.A. President, who, in a ceremony at the culmination of his Banning career, said: The person selected for this very special honor tonight has served well the young people of Banning over a long period of time, and in many different capacities. ---Surely this person's record of tireless and effective service to the youth of our community, warrants that this Honorary Life Member- ship in the California Parent-Teacher Association be awarded to Mr. Earle B. Powell. 21
