in spite of the clean-lined architecture against the rugged splendor of the San Gorgonio range, without the saving grace of humor as well as tradition, without people ee the emotional roller coaster; up one minute, down the next . . . spectators participate, people become involved. the watchers mirror the agony, Willie Lyons’ ordeal cancels out the division between on- lookers and actors .. . as together they reflect the strain of sweating out the tough moments with Coach Linden the human values ... the grandeur that is home can be an empty thing without people without humanity investing a yearbook with the intangibles that make meaningful the remembered acts, places, faces the little things, the big ones the first snow of the season; splen- dor mixed up with slap-stick snow- balling The remembered acts aren't all momentous; the roller-coaster recollections swing from grim to gay, and back again to the serious business of school - - - i the random memory scrambles the inconsequential and important; but little things or big moments, | the people stand out. . . i the looks exchanged at the Spinster's Dance or across the crowded class-room, are as important in retrospect . as the pride-ful demonstrations for parents during Public Schools Week. i inn” . Play-acting can be a serious thing, too. Ann Potter's mien in the Senior play was as mem orable and as grimly determined as those of the cham- pionship caliber hoopsters listening to Coach Burk's admonitions . and matched the serious intent of Virginia Bauer in poster production. From that grim determination, this sweet success; the cheers of the multitude heralded the high point of the season and Banning's basketball championship of the California Interscholastic Federation, small schools division . But whether your big moment came in quiet concentration backstage, or under the showers fully dressed, in victory’s after math... . this inevitable involvement with the seasons, this rapid spin around the sun, would dim the memory’s recall; still the institution lives in the people who made it. . . “ty ¥ aa ae 2 3 ae oa _ 133, ee eS: hee ee ioe eae 7 i Ge pe .
