A MESSAGE TO THE SENIORS What can be said to a graduating class which is about to step out into a con- fused and bewildered world? But however uncertain the future may seem there is ‘something special’ which you and all other Americans possess — something so commonplace that it is seldom given a serious thought. The price of it has come high in the cost of lives of men who have died to protect it, but it is something which money cannot buy. This special something is your citizenship in a great and strong country. If this seems to be a dark hour in our history, remember that there never was a time when man had so much as has the average American today. His wealth is great in material things which make life comfortable, and he is rich in experi- ences. Though material things can easily disappear, American citizens will not be left empty handed, for they live in a land in which the high ideals and good moral and intellectual habits of an industrious people are the bulwark of a great democracy. So wherever you go, and whatever you do, your strength is welded to that of every other American citizen by a common bond of idealism. This is surely ‘‘some- thing special’’ which should give you faith and courage as you face the future. Good luck but not good-bye. We feel that we will always be with you for we are bound together by this common bond. Earle B. Powell Late hours, weighty problems, important decisions . . . all enter into the life of a school board member. L. to r: Mr. Powell, Robert H. Blee, George Fox, James Whigham, C. O. Barker Jr., Mrs. Esther McClean. ‘ : sapuer’ a, ‘ra aes,’ s™ “spent toe € A=
