None of these three played a single instant of any game---yet they inspired many a victory. These were the cheer- leaders of nineteen hundred fifty and fifty-one. When they started out the yenr, there were four of them, but Ida Lou Cleveland got married, and quit school, so this left Lynors McGowan, Devota Rohrs, and Eloise Snyder to do the Job. Through out the season--in victory and defeat-- thuse three have backed up their tesm with the same spirit as Lhe players on the teams They have worked hare, spending many sn hour just to be able to do their best to help thelr team, dur hearty praise should go to these girls for keenlng up the morale of the team as well as the other rooters, This year, just before summer vacation, Eloise Snyder, Lynors McGowan, Shirley Sven, Evelyh Jessup, and Dorothy Peterson were chosen as the cheerleaders for l95l and 1952. vw 1 , ig. Some of the girls were dressed like hill-billies in big overallsibelonging to their dadsl and big shirts. These were covered with patches of all sizes, shapes, and patterns. The Blue Streak Staff sponsored this event which was to show who could fix their hair the queerest. Elsie Van Pelt and Barbara Madden, both seniors, will be remembered by everyone for the way they had their hair fixed and the way they were dressed. Both were dressed in big, bibed overalls and large shirts. Elsie had her long hair braided in a number of small braids all over her head. Each tiny braid was tied with a big bow or a piece of colored string. The staff did not choose a winner for the day, but it will be remembered by all the BCHS students. VALENTINES QUEEN The Blue Streak Staff sponsored a contest to choose a queen of Valentine's Day. All the high school girls were eligable to win this contest. The voting was done by secret ballet in the assembly hall at the three o'clock peribd. Jack Cleve- land and Eloise Snyder, both members of the Staff coun- ted the votes. Elsie Van Pelt was chosen by the popular vote of the assembly. De Vota Rohrs presented the Queen with a heart-shaped box of candy. ,H -xl 1 K, .g 1 r I I. gf S, 1 a if .. -1 1 'F li , T 355 F ,ting ,Ng if-s 5,11-5 N. '1-ALE !! ,jf Y.
