Banks students are very capable of mixing fun with schoolwork in some clever way. Being in the classroom is not all work. Lots of classroom activities are more fun than anything. Banks tun not only goes on in the classroom, but our school spirit goes on even after the football games. On game nights, students go to McDonalds after the game. Thanks to our new principal. Banks has almost achieved the never-ending battle to recover the school spirit we once had 81 Becky Hanvey iFrcsljman JFauorites Mike Strickland 1 §ouhomore iflauorites Isaac Mendenhall Jill Washington Andrea Strickland Bruce Cook 83 ilunior jFauorites Charlie Vines Anna Buysse Angie Coverson Jeff Walker Senior ifauorites Ceasar Austin Cheryl Anderson Terrie Brooks George Binns I §enior Jfauorites Melinda Dean Rodney Ferguson Kelli (.handler Jon Lee 87 §enior ifauorites Melony Holmes Leroy Miles Kirn Manier Jerome Stevenson 88 §enior Jfauorites Rhonda Self Rob Stewart Melody Young; Robert Williams Melody Young escorted by Jimmy Gravlee Belinda Dean escorted by Dewayne Baker Kelli Chandler escorted by Derek Chandler Melony Holmes escorted by Rodney Ferguson 91 Mary Royster escorted by Fred Parker Kristi O’Kelly escorted by Shane Locke 'T [ f 1 [r I V b 1 A Terri Brooks escorted by Chris Green Lucretia Bowie escorted by Brian Jones Rosalyn Rowser escorted by Obie Carnathan Michelle Kinard escorted by Scott Marbut Jill Washington escorted by Scott Maddox Becky Hanvey escorted by Ray Snow 93 homecoming ®ueen Cfyeryl Anderson 95 Harsity (Ehpprlpaiiprs Melony Holmes Anna Marie Buysse Kim Hess Kristi O’Kelley Elise Olive Kim Manier Carla Scott Amy Foster % janie Airhart Michelle Kinard Andrea Strickland Mandy Caldwell U — SIIEAUJ Kelly Bourland, Traci Wiggs. Although we were not quite prepared for the Huffman Vikings, Jets did not give up. The score was 30-6. They showed true determination by coming back with a 21-0 win over John Carroll. Jets rounded the Thundering Herd with ease, with a stunning victory of 19-0. The following week Jets packed up and traveled to Stanhope Elmore in Montgomery, Alabama. It was a great disappointment when the Jets brought home a loss of 14-0. As you know, there are no bigger rivals in the city, of Birmingham than Banks Jets and the Wood lawn Colonels. In this game statistics mean nothing. Jets had beaten Woodlawn seven years straight before their win last year 14-7. This year Jets soared to uphold and start a new tradition that will be upheld in years to come. Jets won 23-0. The seniors of the 1984 season were a group of outstanding and determined players. They gave all they had to continue to uphold the Banks tradition of being number 1. These seniors leave many memories to be given to the underclassmen to always uphold and make Banks Jets number 1 ... to the seniors of 84-85 we salute you! 125 WE'RE GREAT The next two games were disappointments. The Jets just couldn't get it together when they played Midfield and Hueytown. They lost to Midfield 21-0 and to Hueytown 14-6. This seemed like the end, but little did the Pacetters know that it was only the beginning as Jets brought it home with a win of 21-8. Jets looked forward to going to the playoffs and with their 28-7 win over Wenonah they were State Bound. 126 with an outstanding defense and a strong offense. Banks faced Homewood. Even though favored to lose. Banks surprised everyone with a 24-0 win that put Banks in the second round of the Playoffs. This was the second time that Banks met the Wenonah Dragons, and they knew that it would be a battle. It was. Wenonah scored early in the first quarter. Little did they know that this would be their winning touchdown. The offense just wouldn't start ticking. The only points put on the board were by the defense, when they pushed the ball into the end zone for a safety. Before they could score again, time ran out. Jets lost their final game by a disappointing 7-2. VARSITY Seniors C. Austin J.
