They put in many hours of practice this summer and after school. The band was active in many fund raising projects during the year. The Banks Band was the only band asked to play at the inauguration of Mayor Arrington and was a participant in the first annual Birmingham Public Schools Marching Competition. The band also marched in the Roebuck Shopping City Christmas Parade and the Childrens Hospital Christmas Parade. The B.H.S. Band truly deserves the title of Pride of the lets. Ensley defensive tackle Robert Cole scooped up a Banks' fumble, leading the Jackets to their first score. Ensley scored two more times to take the lead 17-12. Late in the game. Sports las JETS DEFEAT PATRIOTS Banks, coming off a loss to Ensley. got back on the winning track by defeating the Homewood Patriots 17-7. With this win the Jets bettered their season record to three wins and one loss. The Jets’ offense soon came alive to score 17 points, enough to capture another victory. BANKS BLANKS PHILLIPS The Jets' offense, behind senior leaders Bruce Hancock. Phil Dillon, and David Langner, scored four touchdowns as Banks downed the Phillips Red Raiders 28 0. This was the second region win without a loss for the lets. Capitalizing on Phillips’ turnovers. Again and again problems have cropped up which have taxed us heavily: not only mentally and physically, but emotionally as well. But with the aid of diligent staff workers and photographers, we were able to overcome all obstacles and escape premature gray hair. Yet even though we’ve had many ups and downs, the past three years have meant much to us. The experiences we have had will remain with us for the rest of our lives. Over the past few years, many people have contributed in various ways to any success that may come from this yearbook. We would like to specifically thank Cal and Tracy, and Anita and Jonny for all of their help and encouragement. We especially wish to express our gratitude to the staff at Belmont Studios for being ready and willing to help us when we needed them. Once again, the hard-working members of the Contrails Staff deserve our thanks along with our advisor. Mrs. Edith Lastinger. Last of all we would like to express our appreciation to the faculty for their cooperation and to our principal. Mr. Robert Atkins for his sound guidance and foresight. In closing, we hope that you feel as enriched in looking through this annual as we felt in making it. . God Bless you all. Editor. izXvtfu Associate Editor
