Signs were found plastered on walls throughout the halls and in most every room in the school. Students heard all the candidates make campaign speeches at the end of the campaign, following the signing of petitions and qualifying for the race the winners and losers alike gained the experience of honest competition, and several of the losers went oil to win in the Spring Semester race. Hardest Working Student Council Members Receive Awards JOAN WAGES Key Award Winner The student government plays a big part in the lives of students at Banks. Assemblies, homecoming festivities, special projects, school regulation, student directories, and many other responsibilities keep the student administration busy during the year, and the time of all members of the Cabinet is fully used. Every year, however, two people are selected by the Student Council to receive awards for their service “beyond tin call of duty”. A high honor, this year the Key Award went to Girls' Vice President Joan Wages, and the '66 Award (runner-up) went to the Publications Director, Jeanie Bailey, who was responsible for what many students feel is the best Student Directory in Banks' history. Their names will be remembered at Banks for what part they had in the leadership of a great high school.
