The entire action of the play takes place in the small country hotel owend by Ellen Parker. Terry King is a young detective who is on the trail of Mugsy Morris. Mugsy has stolen a valuable pearl necklace from a rich heiress. Terry has heard that Mugsy's half-sister will meet him at the hotel and give him the necklace. Terry doesn't know what the sister looks like and becomes suspicious of Sandra Field and Margot Hinklepuss, two mysterious lodgers. It is really the new school teach- er, Cora johnson, who is the real sister of Mugsy. Only Cora knows that Mugsy is in the hotel disguised as Mrs. Summerfield. After Mugsy plants a time bomb in Terry's suitcase, he realized that the necklace is in the suitcase with the bomb. .- ge . X KCCGAX' 01980 Cwfsal. Siam Employing a platoon system for the first time, the Slate Pickers of Coach Granville Evans, cavorted on the gridiron for five victories as opposed to as many defeats in the '52 season. Following the initial fray with the Poconos, which we dropped by a close 7-6, platoon- ing put us in high-gear against Catasauqua's Iron-Borough eleven with a 20-14 victory. East Stroudsburg clamped our boys 26-Og while Wilson squeezed us 7-6. In a tough battle we trumpted the Zinc Towners of Palmerton 14-7 and next up-ended Coplay's Maroon 45-6. Outplaying the Moravians of Nazareth High in every department-except scoring-we lost a heart-breaker 7-0. Powerful Northampton out-gunned us 26-19-but the Slaters of Slatington were ham- mered into submission 19-6. Bangor Highs varsity basketball reached its peak this past year. Though missing title heights in league competition by the barest of margins, Bangor High still showed supremacy by winning 15 games and losing 8 games. In the first half of play, Coach John Heard's boys finished in a tie for fourth place winning 4 and losing 4. In the second half of the race, the Maroon and Wluite were ever dangerous. Despite an epidemic of the flu among the squad they barely missed title aspirations, winning 5 games and losing 3 to finish' in a tie for third place. Two sin- gle point losses to Parkland and Fountain Hill in this second half prevented the Slaters from achieving a tie for the top posi- tion. Top achievements throughout the year included double wins over Stroudsburg, an independent foe, the first in annals of their relationship. Wins over Wilson and Hellertown repre- sented the first in 19 years over those adversaries. Many factors attributed to this successful record of 15 teams scoring records broken and several individual scoring records smashed. The team scored a total of 1223 points.
