EIGHT We. the graduating class of l94l, could not have achieved the singular success which has attended our days in Bangor High School with- out the aid and encouragement of our adviser, Miss Gertrude Grove. to whom we are extremely grateful. MISS GERTRUDE GROVE SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Now that we have reached the height of our ambition, let us go back to the fall of 1937 and view ourselves as we were then. a handful of eager students overjoyed at the thought of being in High School and assuming all the responsibilities of Freshmen. A skating party at the Bangor Rink and a successful class party constituted our social activities for that year. Under the supervision of Miss Miller we were organized in our first year of High School. As Sophomores our number was increased, when the former IOM class joined us. Another skating party at the local rink was our only social activity. but we contributed to. and partici- pated in all school activities. In our Junior year we held a Halloween Party in October at Pleasant Grove, which turned out to be a very prosperous and enjoyable affair. We also sponsored a Thanksgiving Victory Dance in the school auditorium. Our Annual Junior Banquet at Buck Hill Falls furnished many memories to be treasured by all. By the end of that year we realized that when we returned we would be Seniors and then and there determined more than ever to measure up to the standards expected of us. Now that the year has come and is almost over, what a grand year it has been, even though it has been the busiest bit of our lives. it has also been our happiest. The Hrst great event of the season was our Christmas Snowball Dance on December 29. lf you hadn't known before hand that you were in the auditorium. you would never have recognized it: it was that beautiful. During the year we contributed greatly to the honor roll and were outstanding in all extra-curricular activities. We brought our high school career to a close by successfully presenting Mama's Baby Boy. Our Senior Banquet was our last but in no wise least social function. lt was held at Pocono Manor on May 29, and was a String climax to our four years of comradeship. mx
