The 1988 ORACLE ls Dedicated to . . . Mr. Ronald Sands Mr. Ronald Sands was born in Dexter, Maine on March 12, 1936. He attended Dexter schools and graduated from Dexter High School in 1954. While in high school Mr. Sands was very active in athletics, playing baseball and basketball for four years and football for two years. Following graduation, Mr. Sands enrolled at Hartford Art School where he received scholarships while earning his Bachelor of Arts degree. He graduated from Hartford in 1959. Following two years of U.S. Army duty in Colorado and Hawaii, Sands was discharged and returned to Connecticut where he worked in the Art Design field. In 1964, Mr. Sands accepted a teaching position at Fifth Street junior High School in Bangor, in 1980 he transferred to Bangor High. Mr. Sands and his wife of twenty years, Sue, have one daughter, Kerry. They reside in Carmel. Mr. Sands has endeared himself to staff and students throughout his years in Bangor. His sincere interest in his students extends beyond the classroom as he supports all school activities with his time and talents. In 1985 he received the Staff Member of the Year Award at Bangor High School. It is with great pleasure that the 1988 ORACLE is dedicated to Mr. Ronald Sands.
