As the curtain opens, )immy (M Schaller) is seen lounging around, enjoying the checks he re- ceives form his Uncle Dan (D Langrehr) The checks suddenly get larger when Uncle Dan thinks jimmy has gotten married! Now it's up to jimmy to find a bride Things got pretty sticky . . . and funny! But as the curtain fell, everything had worked out for jimmy and his brides. The stage crew, under the expert direction of Mr Romskog, constructed a befitting living room scene for the play. 84 4 Cast C. Huhn. V Niedfekit. S. Stekel, S Althoff. S. Hanson. H Smith. M Schaller. Great Smokies, a one-act hillbilly comedy, made for a very successful spring drama pro- duction. In the play. Pa Schlepper (Don Langrehr) was courting the Widow Daisy Snodgrass (Karla Sprain). Each of them had teen-age children, and were afraid that the other would not marry if faced with the re- sponsibility of raising teenagers. To solve the problem, they made their children dress up and act like little boys and girls, making for some very humorous situations. Things got complicated when Hiram's (Scott Stekel) girl friend Lizzie (Nori Churchwell) showed up and found him in short pants, with Dottie (Colleen Huhn), a not-so-little girl, looking for his big, strong, help But after a false case of mea- sles, and Zeke (Paul Hansen) running around with a shotgun looking for someone to shoot, everything pulled together for a happy ending Much of the credit must go to the director, Mrs. Rainwater, and stage manager, Mr. Romskog, for their long, dedicated hours of work 87 AND SO WE BEGIN At the beginning of the 1981-82 school year, the Freshmen found themselves in a very strange situa- tion.
