CLASS HISTORY In August of 1959, green and rather scared freshmen entered Bangor High School. After the sophomore initia- tion, we felt we were a part of the student body and showed this by giving a return party. Class officers for this first year were Bob Kelsey, President; Tim Anderson, Vice-president; Joyce Horstman, secretary; and Ann Austin, treasurer; while Mr. Korb and Mr. Kreunen were advisors. Representing our class were Jean Arentz and Jerry Ron- dorf on Student Council; Joyce Horstman as homecoming representative; and Lois Evans and Jean Arentz as cheer- leaders. The fall of 1960 found us back as sassy sophomores. Our elections included; Mike Schroeder, President; Jerry Rondorf, Vice-president; Jean Arentz, secretary; and Janet Cook, treasurer. Student Council representatives for this year were Joyce Horstman and Tim Anderson while Lois Evans represented us on the homecoming court. Cheerleaders from our class included Lois Evans and Jean Arentz. Our big junior year of 1961 was filled with many events. This year we elected Tim Anderson, President; Frank Wegner, Vice-president; Lois Evans, secretary; and Marianne Stark, treasurer. Representing the class for Student Council were Diane Schmitz, Jeanie Herman, and Arlan Schmidt. Elected to the homecoming court was Diane Schmitz. Representative of our school at Badger Girls' State was Marianne Stard and at Badger Boys' State was Jerry Rondorf and Arlan Schmidt. Jean Arentz and Dale Craig were the cheerleaders from our class. Our float Emulsify Em won first place for the Football Homecoming parade. One of the important events of our junior year was our Junior class play given on Friday, April 13. Footloose was termed a success, but all in spite of the fact it was given on an unlucky day. The highlight of our Junior year took place on April 28, 1962. That was the date of our Prom, the theme being, A Summer Place. Our advisors for this event were Mr. Elwood and Mr. Korb. A lot of hard work went into the arches, walls, and swing, but the results and compliments were worth the efforts. Mike Schroeder and Marianne Stark reigned as king and queen with Tim Anderson and Kitty Althoff, A1 Challet and Joyce Horstman, Gary Johnson and Diane Schmitz, Jerry Rondorf and Jean Arentz making up the court. In the fall of 1962 we stormed the school for the last time as Seniors. The class officers for this our most im- portant year, were Arlan Schmidt, President; Larry Elliot, Vice-president; Vera Jensen, secretary; and Ruth Mack- ensen, treasurer. Mrs. Steiner and Mr. DeLong chose to remain as our senior class advisors. Student Council Presi- dent was Kitty Althoff with Diane Cavadini and Larry Jones as our representatives. Cheerleaders from our class were Jean Arentz and Dale Craig. The Fool the first strictly serious play to be given at Bangor was presented on November 8, 1962. It was very well received by all. It's hard to say which event of these four years will be best remembered by the class of 63. Each year was filled with warm memories and rewarding experiences none of which the unknown future can diminish. 6
