CLASS HISTORY One bright September morning four years ago, we began our first year of high school as confident and self-assured students. After being initiated by the sophomores, we returned to normal. We made our first great contribution to the school by giving our return party. Our class advisors were Mr. Davis and Mr. Kreunen. Class officers elected for our first big year were: George Barnes, President; John Johnson, Vice-President; Mary Knudson, Secretary; and Tom Garves, Treasurer. Student Council representatives were Dan Olson and Judy Severson. Our Homecoming Court representative was Mary Kay Knudson. Representing our class as a cheerleader was Carolyn Berg. We staggered back in 1959 to begin our sophomore year. Our second big contribution to Bangor High School was to initiate the new crop of freshmen. Our new advisors were Mrs. Lanier and Mr. DeLong. Leading our class that year were: President, Mary Knudson; Vice-President, Steve Zinn; Secretary, Bonnie Severson; Treasurer, John Berg. Representing us on the Student Council were Gerry Everson and Tom Garves. Gerry Everson represented us on the Homecoming Court. Sophomore class cheerleaders were: Mary Kay Knudson, Carolyn Berg, Betty Hansen, and Bonnie Severson. We crawled back in 1960 as Juniors. Elected that year were: John Berg, President; Gwen Kreunen, Vice President; Karen Wegner, Secretary; Bill Monfort, Treasurer. Our class advisors were Mr. Schmitt, and Mr. Benzinger. On Student Council were: Steve Zinn, Millie Repky, and Marcella Meyer. On March 28, 1961, we presented our class play, Melody Jones. This three act comedy was a great success. Also, in our Junior year came our greatest contribution to Bangor High. On April 29 our JUNIOR PROM was held. The theme which we chose was Wonderland by Night. We were the first class to have the coronation on the stage. We received many compliments on this and on the prom in general. John Berg was elected king and he chose Betty Hansen as his queen. The rest of the court consisted of Tom Garves and Carolyn Berg, George Barnes and Karen Wegner, Steve Zinn and Mary Knudson, Dan Olson and Bonnie Garves. The chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Curt Cooksey and Mr. and Mrs. Paul De- Long. We elected Nancy Torgerud to the Homecoming Court. Cheerleaders from our class were: Mary Kay Knudson, Carolyn Berg, Betty Hansen, and Bonnie Severson. Chosen for Badger Boys' State were George Barnes and John Berg. Gwen Kreunen represented our school at Girls' State. We roared back in the fall of 1961 to dominate the school as Seniors. For our last and most important year we elected Judy Severson to be our class president, Bonnie Severson took over as Vice-President; Betty Hansen as Secretary; and Steve Zinn as Treasurer. Mrs. Steiner and Mr. Delong were our advisors. Mr. DeLong who liked us so well as Sophomores insisted on coming back as our advisor. Mary Kay Knud- son was elected Student Council President. The other representatives chosen from our class were Bonnie Garves and Jim Pfaff. Cheerleaders were Mary Kay Knudson and Betty Hansen. On November 10, 1961 we staged a sensational hit play entitled Finders Creepers. It was a mysteri- cal comedy. On the night of May 24, 1962 we will graduate from Bangor High School. We shall bring to a close four years of guidance from faculty, parents, and friends. We shall look back to the happy memories of the past and ahead to the unknown of the future. 6
