Class of 7988 The Freshmen of the Class of 7988 entered Bandys, as the Democratic Party had just nominated Geraldine Ferraro to represent them as a Vice-President candidate. Mary Lou Retton was winning American hearts and four medals in gymnastics in the 7984 Olympic Games. 7984 also saw Bandys football program improve with Rookie Coach Toni Paroli at the helm. The Varsity girls' basketball was ranked in the top 25 in the Nation and the softball team won the N. C. A-AA State Championship. The class of 7989 entered Bandys in August of 7985 as Coke brought back its original formula under the name of Coca- Cola Classic . The starving people in Africa were benefited from a 77-hour rock concert, Live-Aid . In the 7985-86 school year every sport at Bandys, except baseball was repre- sented in State Playoff competition. 72 7.
