Geometry There were two classes of Geometry this year. Each was taught by Mrs. Sherry Drum. Students studied points, lines, planes, angles, arcs, circles, cylinders, spheres, and other geometric figures. They learned many definitions, proper- ties, and theorems. They put all of this knowledge to use when they did proofs using deductive reasoning. A chapter in logic was also included in the cur- riculum. Mrs. Drum demonstrated the practical uses of Geometry by using examples of Architecture. Geometry was a challenging and of- ten time-consuming course, but it taught students the one thing they will use the rest of their lives - how to think logically. ,.. Advanced Math And Calculus Advanced Math combined the stu- dents' knowledge of algebra and geom- etry and applied it to new situations. Students learned how to work with trigonometric functions. This was the first year that Bandys had a scheduled calculus class. Calcu- lus used all the math that students had learned in the previous years. Both classes further prepared stu- dents to take the higher levels of math offered at college. .'.. ' 22 f ., K7 -2 W, ..V:. ,,.. 5 These calculus students work diligently. Algebra Even though several dyfferent levels of Algebra were ofered, the concepts remained the same. Students learned how to solve equations, to graph equa- tions, and to solve word problems. They also learned how and why math- ematical properties function. Each of the courses provided the cor- nerstone for further study in higher maths. 5' M .1 1.
