Pride and Character — Trademark of This Year’s Football Team Two words can be used to describe this past years football team — pride and character. This was demonstrated by their unwillingness to quit, es- pecially when the going got tough. Hard work in pre- season training helped the team become much more physical than in previous years. Although the team did not continue on to a state playoff berth, they were contenders throughout the season. The playoff hopes looked promising for the Trojans, as they went into the last game in a three- way tie for first place with Bunker Hill and Maiden. These hopes were dampened by the loss to Fred T. Foard. Ricky Sigmon, who led the team in blocking, was chosen First Team All-Conference while Eric McCombs, Mark Sigmon, Tim Smith, and Phil Rowe were chosen for the Second All-Conference Team.
