Offered in Math A good foundation in mathematics is necessary whether one plans to go to college or start working after graduation. The Math Department at Bandys strove to prepare the student to meet this challenge through a variety of courses. These courses ranged from general and consumer math to advanced math, which included trigonometry and preliminary calculus. There were several paths to choose from when starting out as a freshman. The student could choose from general math, consumer math, or Pre-Algebra, or decide to plunge directly into Algebra I. Depending on his decided course of study, he could then advance to higher courses, such as Algebra II, geometry, and advanced math, in successive years. It was up to the student to decide which courses to take. Whichever road the student decided on, he could depend on ready and willing teachers to help him understand the ways of mathematics. Top Left and Middle: After Lynn McClain wrote a problem on the board, Mrs. Teague ex- plained it to the class. Above: Signora Little and Cathy Pike worked on their geometry projects during class time. At Left: Randy Wimberly and Philip Beard worked together in trig class. 19
