MIKE SMALLRIDGE West Virginia Institute of Technology B.S. Band Even Mr. Smallridge enjoys the action of a pep rally song. This year our school spirit was just tremendous. A big factor to this was a band that has gotten better and better. Under Mr. Smallridge, the band has picked up all the fundamentals of music and has molded into a fine group of musicians. The Evolution provided the sound and the night was one to be long remembered. The Evolution supplied a perfect evening of music. Homecoming «His A mat Homecoming of 1970 was a very special event for everyone. It was exciting especially for Miss Pansey Goforth, who was crowned Homecoming Queen. Along with the crowning of the Queen, the Trojans defeated Hildebran 54-7 in football, and the Home- coming dance was a tremendous success. All in all. Homecoming 1970 was truly a night of pleasant memories. As usual, the spirit of Christmas was prevalent. It was an ideal setting for music, dancing, and socializing. Music was pro- vided by The Cold Sweat. All was perfect for Miss Polly Young, the Christmas Queen. This year’s Christmas Carrousel was one of the best ever. They must have at least an 86 average and must abide by school rules. It is an honor indeed to become Mr. or Miss Bandys. Mr. Miss Bandys 47 Morehead Nominees Every year, the University of North Carolina gives a scholarship known as the MOREHEAD. Begun by John Motley Morehead, the scholarship attracts boys from all over the state of North Carolina. Applicants must be nominated and this in itself is a great honor. The purpose of Boys’ State is to teach the boys the system of government so that they may become leaders when they become old enough to take an active part in govern- ment. 1970 Salutatorian And Valedictorian It is indeed a great honor to be at the top of your class. Rolling to a 10-3 record the Trojans won the SD-7 conference cham- pionship, the District 7 Championship, the Eastern region of the Western Division cham- pionship, and Western Division State runner- ups. Various trips and programs are given, each pertaining to science. Requirements for the club are: they must take a science course and maintain an 85 average in that class. F.F.A. The Future Farmers of America has many purposes. They help develop leadership through activities of F.F.A. contests and vari- ous events of the Bandys chapter.
