Jerry enjoying his favorite pastime dfiieaml' . CATAWBA, NORTH CAROLINA NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SIXTY-ONE 2 Imagine finding Jone Gabriel with her mouth open! 3 Aside from the doily tasks of studying, the students at Bandys find time to support their baseball, basketball, and football teams. Never lacking enthusiasm, the fans give the players encouragement and the will to win. By supporting the teams, each student seems to feel that he has had a part in each victory, and a feeling of regret with each loss. These pictures show additional parts of cur complete program at Bandys. Making roses, writing invitations, building fences, and decorating are all a part of the making of a Junior-Senior Banquet. Selling doughnuts provides an oppor- tunity to pay our own class expenses. As Seniors, we are naturally concerned about our future work. Each one pursues his own field of interest, whether it be science, math, or the business world. Many plan to go on to college or other type of higher education. Some will se- cure jobs after graduation and establish homes and families. Whatever the fu- ture holds for us, we feel that our years at Bandys have prepared us to go out and meet life confidently and ably. BECOME FOUNDATIONS Many times during our days at Bandys, we became discouraged with studying, and felt that we were only wasting our time. Those older and wiser than ourselves assured us that all of our efforts would be rewarded in the future. Now, as Seniors, we are beginning to appreciate the wisdom of their advice As we prepare for our life's work, we realize that education is the foundation of every career As we go through the daily routine of study- ing, we try to keep in mind that we are build- ing our futures and the future of our country. In recognition of her profound interest in teaching boys and girls, not just subject matter, at Bandys High School— In acknowledgment of her contribution as an educator—More than just a teacher of French, English, and dramatics, she has inspired her students to think for themselves rather than to follow the crowd— In appreciation of her ability to delegate tasks in such a manner that her students feel responsible for the duties assigned to them— For all these reasons and many more, we wish to dedicate this annual to Mrs. Mozel Wright. ... FRIEND ... TEACHER DEDICATE THE 1901 TROJAN TO Mrs. Mazel Wright A MESSAGE FROM THE STAFF... In the course of everyone's life there come definite changes which separate time into periods. The end of one such period comes upon graduation from high school. In the twelve years preceding graduation a way of life is formed. With that way of life are connected memories of friends and events, of times and places. In this volume of the Trojan, the staff has attempted to portroy as accurately as possible, life os we have known it at Bandys High, with the hope that cherished memories will linger with you always. If when glancing through this annual you ore reworded with warm feelings at the sight of friends of yesterday, we hove completed our task successfully, for this was our aim in publishing this annual. Perhaps one of the most noticeable tasks is that of sitting at the charging desk and stamping books and book cards. There are, however, other tasks: shelving books and magazines; keeping vertical files up to date; typing; taking care of newspapers; keeping circulation records of books, magazines, news- papers, and pamphlets; taking care of library passes; stamping, classifying, marking, and general housekeeping. We were unable to obtain a director, and we feel that these boys have done an excellent job in carrying on without one. The band performed in the Statpsville Christmas parade and also in the Mooresville Christmas parade. The Major- ettes won first place in the Statesville parade The fact that our band has carried on this year is evidence of what hard work and de- termination can accomplish.
