At regionals a tough game was played against Humphrey, but Bancroft ended their season here. Their record was 11-8. 2b Girls Track With only six people making up the track team this year the girls finished up with a very successful season. They received a first place trophy at the Lyons Invitational and Homer Invitational. They went on to become Lewis and Clark Conference runner-up and District D-5 runner up. However this did not end their season, two members of the team qualified for the State Track Meet. Connie Larsen competed in the 100 meter dash and Linda Samuelson competed in 4 events, the 400 meter dash, the 800 meter run, the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump. The Sr. Class served a delicious ham dinner. The Logan Valley Dutchmen Polka Band provided the music. Jani Waddell directed the play. The play was about Tommy Winter, (Lenn Zuhlke), and his scheme to make money for college. He put an ad in the newspaper, saying he was a psychiatrist. He ended up helping a houseful of nuts, with the help of his friend, Steve Grinnell, (Glen Tietz). In the end, the nuts were just actors hired by Tommy's father, and Tommy got his money for college! The two nights were very entertaining and total successes. 49 On Friday night, December 21, 1979 the Seniors hosted the Christmas Prom dance. The dance featured Atilla , a live band from Omaha. A good time was had by all those attending. Who found this great tree? 51 Jr. Sr. Prom Come Sail Away Come Sail Away was the theme of the Jr. Sr. Prom held on Saturday, May 3, 1980. ZUHLKE son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Zuhlke OMAHA N At 6:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 24 Seniors, 4 sponsors, and our bus driver headed out for a weekend in Omaha. Everyone was all excited, the Sneak Day 1980 had finally arrived. When we arrived in Omaha we went on a tour at WOW and KEZ092. The biggest part of the weekend was hearing Bancroft Seniors , over the radio. We went to our hotel, the Holiday Inn, for alittle while. In the afternoon we went to SAC Airforce Base. By that time everyone was rather tired. We finally got an hour or so to rest, but some of us went swimming. On Friday evening we went to Peony Park for a night of amusement. When it was time to go, we couldn't find our bus or the driver. After 45 minutes of waiting, he came. Boy did we give him a bad time. The night was long, but yet it was short. Some hit the sack early and some went ALL night. But everyone enjoyed themselves. Saturday morning was a time to rest. Those who were up all night just layed around and some went swimming. Like Glen, he was so into swimming he had to get 3 stitches in his forehead. He tried to do a handstand and instead hit his head. In the afternoon we went to the Henry Doorly Zoo. Oh, if you could have seen Lenn pushing Byron up those big hills in a wheelchair. POOR LENN! The weekend was ended with supper at Mr. C's Steakhouse. We had fun, and our sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. David Carper and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Barg-mann were great. Sneak Day 1980 was a real success.
