Text from Pages 1 - 80 of the 1975 volume:

MEMORIES of Bancroft High School 1974-1975 Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they, too, have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself, especially, do not feign affection. Neither by cynical about love; for in the face of aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strenght of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be, and whatever your labors and aspiration, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. MAX EHRMANN J)1927 by Max Ehrmann. All rights reserved. May 9, 1975, 32 seniors and 4 sponsors boarded a Greyhound bus for KC. We arrived about 7. First stop - breakfast at Howard Johnson's. The KC Zoo was our next attraction. After shopping in the downtown area about 3 hours, we toured the Truman Library. We finally made it to our hotel, the Holiday Inn located at the KC International Airport. After relaxing, we watched the Kansas City-Omaha Kings take on the Milwaukee Brewers. Our night was made when Hank Aaron hit a homer, and when the Bancroft seniors were recognized on the computerized score board. The Same — Senior “Sneak” 1975 Get out of there, Randy! After the game, we headed for Worlds of Fun. We ate, rode on all the rides, spent m-o-n-e-y, and really had a good time. We ended our day about 4:00 a.m. We woke up early, and some of us even took an early morning dip in the pool. After dinner we stopped at the Nelson Art Gallery. Our last stop was to see the longest shopping center in the world. Then it was back to Bancroft for a tired group; Mr. and Mrs. Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Bring, and the exhausted seniors. We had a happy ending - especially because of the fun memories left to each of us. Entering the Truman Library . . . 57 A Beginning .. .
