It was a busy week, starting with the traditional bonfire and ending with the game and dance on September 21. Alot of work went into decorating the gym and the field. The crowning of Norm and Mary as King and Queen, and a smashing 34-12 victory over Homer was a large part of the evening's success. Hessie of the Hills'7 The Junior Class presented the comedy play Hessie of the Hills on November 20, 1973 under the direction of Mrs. Pam Stowe. Special recognition was given to Mrs. Maxine Purvis for her much appreciated help. All cast members were extremely talented but one member stole the show — Shadrach, our canine friend. The play proved to be a worthwhile experience and a lot of fun for all. 28 Winter Wonderland Winter Wonderland , the 1973-74 Christmas Prom was a big success. The theme was carried out in nifty decorations of snowmen, a hugh construction paper Christmas tree and a real Christmas tree. The gift exchange was at 8:00 pm and the dance started at 9:00. Music was furnished by the Establishment . The band was great and everyone had a lot of fun. Christmas Prom 1974 Father Knows Best Think of the sacrifice she made! The seniors decided to be different (as usual) and selected a play from the ever-popular 50's. Father Knows Best was presented March 29th, and was about the average American family who seemed to have more than their share of problems and the domineering father who always, 'knew best'. We only had 2 weeks in which to build stage, props, learn lines, and practice, but with Rosemary Vonracek as our wonderful and capable director, we came through with a great success!! Awards Banquet Friday, May 10th, was our annual awards night. This year before the regular awards night, the athletes were honored at a banquet. Roast beef was the main course. Chas Greenlee, our ace photographer, was the featured speaker. Unexpected excitement came when the lights went out during a very heavy rain. The lights were back on in time for the awards presentation at 8:00 p.m. A dance sponsored by the seniors followed the awards program. St. Paul's Altar Guild made us a fantastic meal. The new cheerleaders are I'd never even SEEK girls play volleyball! Bancroft . . . always on top 'Lost Horizon” On April 27, 1974 the Junior Class honored the Seniors at a banquet and prom. Our theme for this year was Lost Horizon . We were pleased to have with us Mr. Ken Headlee who presented us with two songs to help carry out our theme. The gym was transformed into a heavenly paradise complete with mountains, a brook and a magnificent sunset. The main attraction was our 8-foot, paper mache, mountain highlighting a waterfall, complete with mist flowing from it. To complete the setting were a foot bridge, a well, and live plum blossoms. Sophomores serving at the banquet were Pam Wegner, Jan Copple, Glenda Cooper, Bill Schilling, Ken Daber-kow, and Chuck Hermelbracht. Music for the dance was provided by Last Train West.
