Although many of the positions were filled by Sophomores and Freshmen, the Bulldogs managed a 5-3 record. The season was high-lighted by a pair of wins over W akefield, a team that competed in the state tournament. All 13 members contributed to the teams success, but some stood out above the rest. John Zwygart led in the pitching department with a 5 and 2 record. Freshman Doak Wegner was the leading hitter with a . 535 batting average. Senior outfielders Jeff Bring and Bob Lutjen turned in fine performances, and did much to help the younger ball players. All 13 ballplayers earned a letter. King Jeff Bring and Queen Jo Lynn Miller. 'Color the Bulldogs Victorious' was the theme of this year's Homecoming. The activities started off with a pep rally on Tuesday evening—and ended with the game, coronation, and dance on Friday, September 17, 1971. Half-time ceremonies were started off with several songs, played by the band; and were highlighted with the crowning of Queen Jo Lynn Miller, and King Jeff Bring, and the announcing of class attendants. Homecoming activities were completed with a 30-6 victory over Homer, and a dance in the school gym. The royal ride around the park. Isn't it fun, Jeff?
