BOY’S TRACK The 70-71 track season was a busy one with the boys participating in 6 track meets. We placed 2nd at the Beemer Quadrangular, 8th at the South Sioux City Invitational, and 10th at the Missouri Valley Relays. In the Conference track meet we received two first places. Jack Waite won first place in the Triple Jump and established a new conference record. The other first place was the Freshman Relay consisting of Steve Sorensen, Dave Soil, Duane Tietz, and Scott Russman. In the District track meet we sent two boys to state by winning first place. They were Joe Bring and Jack Waite. Joe won the two mile run and Jack won the Triple Jump and set a new district record. Jack Waite was voted team Captain, Outstanding Senior, and Most Valuable Player. Outstanding players voted were: Juniors—Bob Roth, Sophomores—Marlon Vogt, Freshmen--Steve Sorensen. Twenty-two lettermen were named out of the 39-man squad. There were 10 school records broken this year as Bancroft had the most talent on the track squad for some years. 10
