MELVIN VOGT Our Twelfth Year On the first day of school, nineteen seniors gathered for their last year at BHS. During the months that followed, we had many busy, fun-filled times. At our first class meeting we elected Dick Ronnenkamp as our president, Dennis Engelbart as vice-president, and Cheryl Gatzemeyer as secretary-treasurer. Our class sponsors this year were Mrs. Mary Alexander and Mr. Daryle Urwiler. Peach and mint green were chosen as class colors and white carnations were selected as class flowers. The senior class motto was The greater the obstacle, the greater the challenge. Color Day King and Queen chosen from the senior class were Dennis Engelbart and Mary Lynn Elsasser. Senior attendants were Cheryl Gatzemeyer and Dick Ronnenkamp. Everyone took part in our senior class play, Rest Assured, on April 3, either as actors and actresses or stage hands. After the play, we all pitched in and sold lunch to raise money for Sneak Day. Sneak Day, that long-awaited day in a senior's life, was May 1. We went to Lake Okoboji and had a very fine time. We all enjoyed ourselves very much at the banquet and prom, Saturday, May 9. Our sincere thanks to the juniors, it was great fun! Baccalaureate services were held Sunday, May 24. The climax of our high school career, Graduation Day, was Wednesday, May 27. Now that we have received our diplomas, I am sure we will never forget our four years in BHS and the fun we shared. 8
