Shang-Ri La was the theme of the 1959-60 Junior- Senior Prom which was held on May 5, 1960. The gym was beautifully decorated with crepe paper in Oriental colors, Japanese lanterns, and a huge mural of Oriental scenery Qwhich was painted by the Bath Grade School students under the direction of Mrs. Melvin Wiseman and with the assistance of Jimmy Chewj The theme was also carried out in the programs, place cards, nap- kins, and nut cups. As favors for the evening the girls each received a Japanese fan and the boys each received chop sticks. The wonderful evening began at 7:30 with a delicious banquet of tomato juice, cottage cheese and pineapple salad, roast beef, sweet potatoes, green beans, hot rolls, relishes, tea, and apple pie a la mode. The meal was prepared by Elva Noltensmeier and Birdie Clemons and was served by ten freshman and sophomore boys dressed in Oriental costumes. Music for the dance which began at 8:30 was fur- nished by the Hi-Fi's. When it came to a close at 11:30, everyone had enjoyed a wonderful evening that he would remember for a long time. 33
