CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1948 nmeteen freshmen en tered Baltlc Hlgh School to begm four years w hlch promlsed to be some of the1r most memor able years Slx ot these students transferred from New Bedford namely Marxlyn Mathlas Eva Jane Baumgardner Iovce Wllson Donald Farnsworth Paul Lorenz and Bernard Scheetz Class offlcers elected were Paul Lorenz Presldent Don Farns worth V1cePres1dent and Louxse Green Secre tary Treasurer The 1n1t1at1on party was held at Frma Scarrs and before the evenmg was over the freshmen had oll eggs and other so called ammumtxon bestowed upon them by the upper classmen That year two students represented the fresh men 1n the D1str1ct Tests at Wooster namely Ann Rmehart Engllsh IX and Donald Farns worth General Science In athletlcs Garland Burger and Dean Hup r1ch each recelved a letter Thus havlng completed our freshman year we were eagerly lookmg forward to another part of an adventure we had begun We came back to school to begm our sopho more year vv1th one of our classmates mlsslng He was Bernard Scheetz who had moved to Coshocton Our class offlcers were Ronald Eckert ma Mae Lautenschleger Secretary and Dean Huprlch Treasurer We were glven the honor of mltlatlng the freshmen w1thout the help of upper classmen Thls year the scholarshlp team was Don Farnsworth World Hlstory Dean Huprrch Latln I Ann Rmehart Engllsh X and Fred Huprlch Algebra I We won the school basketball tournament by defeating the freshmen ln an excltlng game Reclvmg awards were Dean Huprlch Fred Huprlch and Garland Burger for the1r efforts IH athletlcs Wlth our adventure now half over 16 yunlors returned to Baltlc Hlgh School to further our hlgh school career The class OHICCYS elected were Robert Llmbacher Pres1dent Donald Farns worth V1cePres1dent Joyce Wllson Secretary and JoAnne Ott Treasurer The class met on October 8 1950 and selected then' class rmgs On November 16 1950 the Jumor class play Once upon a Mldnlght was presented We held bake sales and had scrap 1ron drlves to put ourselves on a stronger financlal basis We also met and chose lavender and whlte for our class colors Whlte carnatlons and vlolets were chosen as our class flowers Our athletic contrxbufrons th1s year were Garland Burger Fred Huprlch Donald Farns worth and Dean Huprlch all of whom recelved awards Dean Huprlch was placed on the All Star Team of Tuscarawas County Ann Rmehart re ceuved a letter for cheerleadlng Those taklng the scholarshlp tests thls vear were Ronald Eckert Physlcs Donald Farnsworth English YI and Ann Rmehart Amerlcan Hxstory The school newspaper The Eagle was pub hshed Don Farnsworth served as Editor and Dean Huprlch Asslstant Edltor Bflflglllg thls year to a cllmax was the Jumor Senlor Prom on May 5 1951 Seventeen semors came back to Baltlc Hlgh School to fIHlSh the1r hlgh school career Wxth the1r semor year Just begmnmg they found out the fact that one of them Joyce Wllson had been strlcken with 1nfant1le paralysns Thus we had to carrv on our semor year w1thout one of our classmates She was confined to Columbus Chlldren s Hospltal Keepmg up her studles she has recelved sufflcxent credlts to graduate from school The class OHICCTS elected were Donald Farns v orth President Ronald Eckert V1ce Presldent Marllyn M3thl3S Secretary and Ann Rmehart Treasurer wlth the asslstance of JoAnn Ott On October 11 1951 we had our class PIC We sold candy at noons and served refresh ments at basketball games durmg the year A Harvest Moon Dance was held by the semors on October 26 1951 Pop Farvers orches tra furnlshed the muslc On February 1 1952 the Semor Scholarshxp Tests were glven at New Ph1ladelph1a Those taklng the tests were Ronald Eckert Dean Hup r1ch Don Farnsworth Ann Rmehart Tom Wahl and Erma Scarr We have worked hard on the annual whlch w1ll help finance a trlp to Washlngton D and New York C1ty We presnted our Senlor Class Play Shoot The Works on Aprll 10 1952 Those gaming awards ln athletlcs were Donald Farnsworth Dean Huprlch Ronald Eck ert and Fred Huprlch Dean Huprlch was placed on the All Countv Team and also on the All Tournament Team Ann Rmehart recelved a gold megaphone for cheerleadmg We the semors were mvlted to the Jumor Sen1or Prom on Aprxl 26 1952 We all enjoyed the event and w1ll remember lt for a long tlme to come Thus we have come to the end ot our school career Havlng been through the ups and downs of school l1fe we are ready to go out 1nto l1fe and meet the challenge whlch IS ahead . - , ' 7 v ' - I ' .
