Now looking back we realize how short those years have been and how rich with happy memories. It is a great consolation to know that we can leave Balta High with the realization that we have played our part . We are convinced that we have maintained the high standards of our school bequeathed by former Seniors. It is with deepest regret that we say Good-bye . Our High School days have been happy ones. Oh, we've had our down days, but we've also had our up days. Now, looking into the future, we are confident that the solid principles instilled in us have given us a foundation for the future. WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER BALTA HIGH AND MAY BALTA HIGH ALWAYS REMEMBER Us. 14 Class Will We, the SENIORS of Balta High School, being of sound bodies and sane minds, do hereby give, bequeath and devise all our worldly goods and possessions to the following beneficiaries: FIRST: We leave to our school and teachers an abundance of love and gratitude for our many happy times and also for some sad ones that have brought us to a better understanding. SECOND: To the incoming Juniors. Sophomores and Freshmen we be- queath our desks and typing tables. Jane Kesler leaves her ability to come late to Kathryn Scheet. To the future typing class, Rose Massine leaves her ability to eat candy at the same period that she is typing. Delores Wangler leaves her dancing ability to Rochus Pfeifer. To Bernice Wangler goes Arlene Rohde's ability to type. Lavonne Rohde leaves her giggles to Monica Sand. Balzer Weigel leaves all his grades to Donald Hoffart. Arlene Rohde wills her gum and three desks to the Sophomore class especially to her sister, Eunice. To the Freshmen class goes Rose Massine's smile. Delores Wangler leaves her ability to study to her sister, Ber- nice and her uncle, Donald. Lavbnne Rohde leaves her ability to get along so well with the Principal to Bobby Wentz. Balzer Weigel leaves his great love for the school to all students. THIRD: Having thus disposed of all our worldly goods and possessions we hereby wish that they will be used to the wisest ability. In testimony, whereof, we the class of 1953, have affixed the hand and SEAL of our class this 30th day of May A. D, 1953. We at least tried to get good grades but the task to compete with the Seniors was a difficult one. Although few in number, we are capable of taking over next year. Besides getting better grades than ever before, we are counting on managing the activities in which the Seniors seem to have dominatedg but we, the Juniors, played an important part in all projects and you can count on us. As a captain we had Rose Hager, who managed our crew of nine members. The crew consisted of scholars who became lost and deeply absorbed in the storms of Math. English, German and World History. One month passes still leaving us on rough sea although the going seemed fair. One day our lookout spied a superior ship coming toward us. This ship was manned by the Seniors of 1953, who carried a cargo of rules which initiated us into high divi- sions of Knowledge and made us expert members of the convoy leading to success. The rules: hideous make -up on faces, outlandish dresses and costumesg hard manual labor, carrying books for the Seniors and homage penalties. In this event the Seniors scored, but we didn't stay down. Time passed quickly and we made hurdles over the 70 mark in January, our first encounter with a real battle. We hope for the same results this semester and so we are a little sad because we shall be Sophomores by the end of May 31. The members of the High School were heard in two public recitals in November to a well filled hall. The cast deserved much praise for their work in THE GYPSY TROUBADOURH as well as preparing the scenery and stage prrnerties. The entire school participates in the play or else supplies extra numbers. In May, the entire school will again entertain their parents and friends with dances, songs and short plays at an Open House Day . At this time there will be a special display of their school work, arts and crafts. 24 w.
