HOMEQOMING Bal am Lake Hlgh Schools Homecomlng festlvltle accupled the tage on Thur day and Frlday October lu 20 w1th the vent gettlng under way Thursday venlng w1th a t rch parade thru the vlllage to the football fleld where a pep rally wa held ar und a glant bonflre The parade was led by Helen Lundmark and All n Mll and alma t ran afoul of a great w1nd wh1ch descended on o lr vlllage just as the parade was gettlng underway The pepfest at the bonflre was l1keW1S9 cut short by a rather heavy shower Wh1Ch drove the students to cover On Erlday afternoon the Purple WBITIOPS were host to the Slren team and after 4O mlnutes of fut1le threats on the part of both teams, the score was st1ll O O The game was really very evenly played w1th Slren holdmg a sllght edge 1n the statlstlcs w1th 8 f1I'St downs to the Warr1ors '7 and Wlth a total yardage effort begmnlng of the fourth quarter, they had a f11'St down on Slren s lO Four plays later, the Warr1ors had made Just 2 yards and Slren took over on then' own 8 Agam late lI'1 the fourth quarter, the WETPIOIS set up a f1rst down on Slren s 18, only to lose the ball when 4 plays netted only three yards Defenslvely the boys played well stoppmg several Slren threats close to our own goal l1ne Ed Posey and Bob Moore stood out especlally well ln 11113 de partment Th Homecommg festivitles were brought to a close on Frlday n1g1t w1th the homecomlng dance for wh1ch the Froelke Bros prov1ded the muslc The g and march was held at 10 30 and the culmmatlor of which found Helen Ruck belng cr own ed as Queen and Lloyd Davidson as King Allen Mlles and Carol Johnson had charge of the crownmg Llttle jon Web r and jean Olson were the crown bearers and aga1n enacted the1r roles well Especlal cred1t must b glven to the student comrmttee who d1d such a fme Job of decoratmg the gym and carrymg out the arrangements for the grand march and crownmg Thls comm1ttee headed by Margery Engels, Lncluded Donna and Helen Lundmark Darleen Rogers, Mar1on Schultz, and Fern Ausen Bob Moore and john Blbeau had charge of the arrangements for the parade and bOIlflI'e The dance was al o a deflmte flnanclal success w1th nearly ZOO couples ln attendance and brlngmg 1n about S 86 OO S . .
