Headmastefs Message It always seems strange to write a message for our yearbook so early in the school year, but I've been asked and fully understand the constraints of going to press . This has been a very, very special year for me. Once in a career a Head of a school gets to be a chairman of such a prestigious group as the Canadian Association of In- dependent Schools. This has been my year. The Associations Annual Conference was held in Winnipeg in mid-October and was a resounding success. The letters of appre- ciation received following the Conference make my head swim and swell -mostly it swells with pride. In every case the Head of a visiting school made a complimentary comment on the spirit of Balmoral Hall and the warm, friendly atmosphere that abounds around and about our happy halls, Let me quote from one of the many letters. The atmosphere and spirit at Balmoral Hall is really infectious and although I was impressed with your plant, I do feel a good school should be judged by its spirit' and not its plant. I must now work to try and generate the same kind of atmosphere at my school, Congratulations! Those of us who are a part of the school can take credit for what people say and feel about us. The theme of this year-co-operation-is so apt, for this is what it is all about. The graduates will leave the comfortable, friendly family of B.H. for the competitive, aggressive world of university or college life. It is a dramatic, challenging and often frightening change. We hope that you will be a confident student and find the superi- or education you have received supportive in the days and years ahead. You leave a fine school for what we hope will be a future full of promise and success. We'll remember you: please remember us! N. Thomas Russell ... if ' 3 . ' 1 Q ,I , l Q, . 11. Chairman of the Board J The graduating class of 1983 will be long remembered at Balmoral Hall. This class as a whole is geared to outstand- ing achievement. The dedication of the class members to intellectual excellence as well as concern for the school and their fel- low students have created a standard which future glraduating classes can look to as a goal to reach for and opefully equal. All members of the board join with me in wishing all our graduates the best for the future. We hope Balmoral Hall as provided each of you with the fortitude and character to meet the changes which will be unfolding in the world during the next two or three decades. To be able to meet new changing conditions, strong and flexible people must be willing to assume leadership roles in our society. We at Balmoral Hall are extremely proud of our institu- tion. We feel it is a place where each student is allowed to develop her maximum potential. With this training in place, we expect and hope each of you will tread a course during life wherein you will build on the foundations you acquired during you sojourn at Balmoral Hall. Iohn E. Carstairs Chairman Board of Governors Chairman of the Board . .
