In the navy .... ooooh. I know Pm beautiful. They're talking about me again l In il ilihitnrial Our editor?!?! ii liz. All the reports are in, the pages completed, and now it is my turn. What can I say? It has been a trying year, and not a group of people realize this more than the yearbook staff. I would like to take this op- portunity to thank a select few. To begin with, my little helpers, especially the ones who stayed so late to put this yearbook together for you, Mrs. Sharpe, my yearbook advisor, and all my photographers, for without you this yearbook would be pictureless. Every year the yearbook is dedicated to someone, or something, and part of my job as editor is to decide to whom or what this edition of Optima Anni shall be dedicated to. After much thought I have decided that to dedicate it to the graduating class would be nice, but it has been done before, the student body, well, this is for you, but not exactly what I had in mind, and finally it came to me. This year's yearbook is dedicated to the good times we have shared, the old glass passage-way, the day the grade twelves wore long underwear to our Friday Assembly, Junior School dressing for an arctic blizzard just to join us, and the heat turned off, and the clothes piled on. In short, Optima Anni '80 is dedicated to memories. Here is to you, hoping that this book will bring back great memories of a great time together. My best to all of you, Sue Graham Editor 3l'I2zthmazter'z ilhzpnrt Your editor has just forcefully told me that my report is required by December lst - so I must do as I am told. Here goes!! I sincerely hope that by the time this edition of Optima Anni is ready for printing we shall all be enjoying the new facilities. The new Library, multi- purpose room, added classrooms and main foyer will indeed add a great deal to our school. More than anything else it will give us a focal point and allow for better communication and flow' ' all around. We are truly fortunate to have a Board of Governors with a progressive outlook. They are l dedicated to the development of our school to make y it the best of its kind in Canada. In my estimation we are already a front runner. Our balanced programmes of study allow a girl to develop to her full potential and we are as an extended family a group of people fa communityj conscientiously dedicated to a common purpose. I am confident you will all enjoy this year of growth and equally confident that in years to come you will open this book and be reminded of happy times and good school days. Every best wish, Sincerely, N. Thomas Russell Headmaster Enarh nf Cbnuernnris On behalf of the Board of Governors it is my pleasure to congratulate the girls who are graduating from our school this year. I must thank the entire student body for their patience and un- derstanding throughout the year. It was a year of progress for our school on two points. Firstly, the graduating class was a delight and a pleasure, and a truly great representative to carry on the traditions of Balmoral Hall. Secondly, Balmoral Hall has expanded its facilities with the addition of our new Library and auxiliary facilities. Balmoral Hall has always been a school where the spirit of the school has been first and foremost in providing the drive and impetus behind the school's success. This year was no different, as the student's enthusiasm was again the prime reason in promoting an educational form which fosters both participation and excellence. To those who will be graduating I extend my personal congratulations and best wishes for the paths they have chosen and to those who remain with us, we will see you all in September. I know I speak for all Board members when I say it has been our pleasure to serve as your Board of Governors for this past year and we are looking forward to the challenges of next year. John D. Miss Bish 1 wh Girl auth Svtltnnl Captain At long last the end of 1979 has come and Balmoral Hall is confronting 1980 with great vigour and enthusiasm. A fine example of this energy is our yearbook editor who seems to have a way with idle threats. Well here's our report Susan, on the year that Optima Anni '80 is all about. This year has been one of change for the student council. It has a new Chairperson and it now func- tions in accordance with the constitution drafted by the executive council and completed by the student council. We have tried to stress over all support and in- volvement in our extracurricular activities. These two very important aspects of school spirit were achieved in the first term by such events as Shinerama, B.I.D., a Hallowe'en Extravaganza, a teacher-student volleyball game and a roller-skating party. 1980 promises more fun with such events as a Successful dance with the PUMPS, a winter carnival and another roller-skating party. 1979-80 has been B.H. in its highest spirits ever. Not only is this tremendous enthusiasm due to the events planned by the student council, but it is also due to the students who participated in these events. The old saying, You only get out of things what you put into them , most definitely applies to this school year. We would like to thank you, the student body, for making this one of the best years that B.H. has ever had. We would also like to extend a special thanks to our second family, the executive council. By fulfilling their duties, they made our jobs less strenuous and much more pleasant to carry out. We couldn't forget the Student Council. Thanks guys, you were a great group to work with. . Well, as chairpersons of the Executive and Student Councils, we thank you for making this a fabulous year for us and as Graduates we warn you the class of '80 will be back. All our love, and Best Wishes for the years to come, Ed and Marilyn. 7 xenrtiuz Qlnunril BACK ROW: M. Morberg, L. Pan, N. Murray. MIDDLE ROW: D. Sidebottom, A. O'Sullivan, M. Glassco, J. Peifer. The overpass had been knocked down, and all that was left was cement, debris and a handful of men at work. It was a thrill to most of us, because the construction of our new library was un- derway. Even more interesting were discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of construction during school hours. Could we possibly have a few classes cut short? Would we be privileged with outdoor classes during the spring term? The list went on and on. But as always, the school had settled all those problems and the year began with a smooth start. However, by midwinter the school's heating system was turned off, so we gave ourselves the privilege of longjohns and other cozy attire for a few days. There were also the long but quick trots through snow drifts to the office, the continuous ringing on the construction telephone, men trundling about their work, several warnings Now that the construction is almost complete, and things are looking quite attractive, we can see it was all worth our while - and patience! by Sophie Odhiambo Grade 11 ZOO Grxf Fine ZX +6l'X2b+l5 Reduce +o Qwadfdttf- P'-Wmdd I Aga-Q-bx+C :O 6,5 is me 9o'lOW '3i lx-'F ' 1 f+H:O Q 5, sxffoe 1 , 1 ' -lun:-BIPLjgOfYX +7-Y Z Nix f' L! 41 THIS MOMENT I may never see tomorrow There's no written guarantee And things that happened yesterday Belong to history. I cannot predict the future And I cannot change the past I just have this moment I must treat it as my last. I must use this moment wisely For it soon will pass away And be lost to me forever As part of yesterday. I must exercise compassion Help the fallen to their feet Be a friend unto the friendless Make an empty life complete. I must make this moment precious For it will never come again And I can never be content With things that might have been. Kind words I fail to say This day may never be unsaid For I know not how short May be the path that lies ahead. The unkind things I do Today may never be undone And friendship that I fail to win May never more be won. I may not have another Bended knee to pray And thank my God with humble heart For giving me this day. I may never see tomorrow But this moment is my own It's mine to use or cast aside The choice is mine alone. I have just this precious moment In the sunlight of today Where the dawning of tomorrow Meets the dusk of yesterday. MY UPS AND DOWNS Although I am a protozoan I have likes dislikes, just like humans. I like to just float around in water. I have heard people say my whole name is Ameoba discoides , but my friends just call me Ameoba and I wish resear- chers would call me that too. I just can't stand it when scientists put me under the glare of the microscope's light! It's so hard to live under such conditions, so I just float around doing nothing. Then the scientists ask, What's the matter with our specimen of 'Amoeba discoides'? Apart from the microscope, what I do like is that there are lots of bacteria and other gourmet foods in the water. The scientists are very careful with me and I do appreciate that, my home is not very luxurious, but it is fairly comfortable. The water is fairly hard but O.K., I suppose. They keep changing the water, so I get a lot of good food and I enjoy that. The only thing I like about going under the microscope is that the light warms my home and food. Personally, I think bacteria tastes better heated, so sometimes I look forward to going under the microscope. Sometimes the scientists are nice and let me have visitors. It's fun to have visitors, but then my friends and I are under the microscope again and we can't catch up on gossip. Well, I guess I am pretty lucky to have a new house every two days and plenty of food, but I'll never understand humans and why they constantly shove me under those microscopes. By Catherine Lappe Grade 7 LIFE Life is a beautiful gift, Given to us by the most worldly creature, - God. To him we must be thankfulg Thankful for this short time he gives us to leave our mark, Thankful for the happiness he gives to us, And for the strength when there is sadness. Life never ends, even when ones who are close to us die, For we never forget themg in our time of need, they are there. They never leave our memories, And our love for them never leaves our heart. So as you see, one's time on earth, although sometimes short is never forgotten Their life, to someone has been very meaningful And never will this beautiful gift of life be forgotten. OLD FRIENDSHIPS AND SWEET MEMORIES Like well-worn pages in some cherished books Old Friendships grow more precious with the years Like flowers pressed in pages of a book. Old Friendships are well worn but sweet. Like pages long turned yellow with the time, Old memories are so often stained with tears. And often thoughts go drifting back once more To well-known spots where old friends used to meet. Friendship is like a marathon. True Friendship comes when physical separation Can no longer bring two people's hearts apart Within fond hearts, where nothing can destroy Old Friendships live forever and a day. By: Judi Green MY LIFE My life is absolutely boring. It's dull, unexciting and short, but I'll tell you about it anyway. I live in a little isolated village and I donlt like it. All of my friends have had such exciting days. They've travelled all the way around the world! Some travel in planes some in trains, many travel by ship, and even more by truck. They've seen the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. My friends have travelled to Europe, to Asia, to Australia, and even to Africa! Many have seen all seven wonders of the world. Furthermore, my friends and family are all good-looking, except me. They have the most beautiful faces. My sister has a rose face, my mother has a butterfly face, and my father has a horse face. To add to all this, my friends are all expensive and elegant. They're all worth 31.00, 52.00 even. I'm so unlucky. First of all, there's travelling. I've travelled from 1001 Waterdon Ave. to 606 Waterdon Ave., and that's the end of my glamorous journeys. Next comes looks. I'm handsome enough, I'll admit it, but the problem is that nobody else seems to think so. The girls won't look at me even twice, and it isn't very pleasant having a picture of the Queen printed across your face. Lastly comes the fact that I'm not that expensive. I'm worth 20 and that doesn't do much to boost my ego. Oh! Why was I ever born a postage stamp?'? The long cold dreary winter is over. The girls prepare for sunbathing while they wave at the men in speed boats going down the river. Spring is also the time when Mrs. Harper starts everyone running the mile. Each year she seems to add on a few extra yards. Spring also means May Day, with the younger girls skipping around the maypole, and the older girls serving lunch and tea to the fathers and mothers. Much gossip is heard at this time. Who is bringing whom tea and wearing what to the annual graduation dinner and dance? The teachers start to prepare our exams, while students try to cram what they've learnt in five months into their heads in one day. With spring being so hot this year, girls are feeling sweaty, while the teachers try to open as many windows as possible without losing their cool. So it seems that all the vitality that the girls lack in winter, seems to return when spring arrives at Balmoral Hall. Qlraug CEnumn My Dear Craig Gowanites, What can I say? This year, 1979-1980 has been truly a fantastic year in the history of our great house. The athletic prowess exhibited this past year can only be equaled by the depth of energy and enthusiasm, Talk about a house with spirit! When I'd thought that I had drawn from the bottom of the bottom of my spirit reserves, I found that I could count on yours because your were seemingly endless. From day one, you guys were devoted and enthusiastic as well as sports-minded athletes. Characteristics like these are things of which winners are made, and so we proved to be. Not only did you teach me a thing or two about spirit, but you left me with some valuable information about people. I can't close without thanking our spirit-boosters and leadersg Ruth Ackerman, Craig Gowens Junior School rep., and Andrea Rivalin our 9-10 rep. Thank you, Craig Gowen for a great year. . Good Luck next year Barb, Big Bird and fellow Craig Gowenites. Love Megan. lHrngrn:zz in the illllaking S X'xX 5 r .x f' xx X xg' 'N . She never did get enough volleyball, however, and joined a city team in grade 11. Jane is as quick to defend her hometown team, the Edmonton Eskimos, rah, rah, rah, as she was quick on the track, wow, look at those muscles! She endured residence life for a grand total of four years and one month. Jane did have a few second homes during that time though. Most were identified by their smooth, soft floor, and the identical footwear occupying r the shelves. May I have this dance, oh Queen of the roller rink? Jane's in- volvement in athletics, choir, and this year model parliament all indicate a spirit which well deserves the achievement awards she has received for the past four years. Have fun at University of Alberta next year Jane, and may you always win your case. EDITH PEASE: Edith joined our humble home four short years ago. It didn't take long for Ed to get into the swing of things, because as Mrs. H. once said, Edith Pease on the top bunk. Ed became yearbook editor in grade eleven, and did an excellent job at it. And in her graduating year she led the school as Head Girl. Edith lived in residence, but could frequently be found at Granny Boat's on weekends. This year however, she was usually found delivering announcements, or passing on messages, and could always be heard throughout the halls, Pi, pow pare pou? Edith will be long remembered as she headed one of this school's most productive student bodies. Good luck in the future, and we'll never forget you!!! LAURIE PAN: Laurie the daughter of Peter Pan arrived on residence's doorstep three years ago, from Kenora, Ontario. Since then she has filled our halls with smiles and has participated in various activities. As this years Glen Gairn house head, Laurie suc- cessfully fought, along with her house to shine in all intra-mural. Laurie has also shined in the in the area of musical talent, piano, which we all will remember. Laurie also has a flame for the sciences and has mastered this in appearance with numerous technical machines such as different shaped calculators, talking ink pens, and mini cameras. Laurie's perky good mornings will be missed by the grade 12's as she goes out west to Alberta to study engineering. Good luck Laurie and take care! Keep on shining!! Ai iihith, irnlzt, zwlztrilgn, Lfietrh DIANE SIDEBOTTOM: Bottom-side beetled her way in to B.H. in Grade 8. As the proud pilot of the pregnant fish bowl she arrived every morning all the way from Southdale. Di-Si's root originated from Salisbury House and under the gym- stairs. In Grade 10 and ll she jogged her way to Squires and was finally crowned Miss Coffee Queen 1980. As a Junior french fan and a senior mathematician, she always used her privileges well. Househead Diane, and her sidekick Bernadette made a super-sportsful '80 for Braemar House. She kept all of us en- thralled with her tales of far away places and her school uniform variations. Diane hopes to have a successful career in Fine Arts after a few years at Sheridan College. Ta, Diane! Take care. NICOLA MURRAY: Nicola first made her appearence at B.H. in Grade 5 and spent 8 years here. Nicola arrived a quiet and shy girl, and is leaving the party queen of the grade twelve year. Nicola was captain of the volleyball team this year. Nic was also a member of executive council this year as L well as head of the Sports Council. Nicola successfully ran both the track meet and swim meets, and will take her abilities to The Sorbonne in Paris next year. There she will take a general French course in ancient and modern French civilization. Have a good year Nicola and Bonne Chance!! MARILYN LAW: Our vivacious School Captain is a six year veteran of B.H. For years she has been an ardent member of the B.H. Blazers volleyball team. As well, she has shone in academics, maintaining her honour roll standing for six years. Marilyn has always been an energetic member of Glen Gairn House and her enthusiasm will be missed next year. As School Captain Marilyn helped to organize many student activities this year. Including the most successful school dance B.H. has ever seen. Next year, Marilyn will be attending the U of M where her giggle so familiar to our Halls will be resounding through theirs. At the U of M Marilyn will major in Law. Later she plans to go on to a career in law, where we know she will be a success. See you in court Marilyn! BARB COX: Barbara-Jean is a 2-year veteran of Balmoral Hall life, she decided to live in Winnipeg so that she could tell us her wild bus ride stories! B.J. likes to summer at the lodge. Dish pan hands was only a fringe-benefit, right Barb?!? She was first runner up for the Squire's queen and also she frequented Lombard cafe with pen in hand. Her tales of home, Lynn Lake, were always unique and often contained the character D... Barb plans to further her education at College, with a few lodge summers inbetween. Residence will miss four Mags Barb and everyone will miss your smile. JANET CHADNEY: Janet joined us this year for her first and last. Although she was a new girl she didn't stay that way for long. Jan was quick to become well known which was helped a great deal by her stay in residence. Jan was frequently heard talking about the famous Amir . Joining the B.H. family from Saudi Arabia Jan was full of many tales of pharoahs and tombs. Janet has left us now but the memories linger on! 21 1 rd 1 fmt 3lam, Einar, Sanz, Qlhriz, :ern JILL BRADLEY: Jill is a newcomer this year from Vancouver. Quiet at the start of the year, she soon displayed herself as being Miss Outgoing . Jill missed the first 2 or 3 weeks of school due to a catchy illness where were you this summer Jill? You can always tell where Jill is with her famous expression ringing throughout the halls I have other things to do! These things most likely include chemistry experiments or going to Squires. We're sure Mrs. Sabbadeni will never forget Jill and E.P.'s multiplying wrecks experiment. Well Jill, our future Nurse, good luck in the years to come and, keep in touch, with the famous class of '80! SUZANNE BREAKY: Suzanne Julia Breaky came to B.H. in the school year of 78-79. We soon found out that she was not as shy as she pretended. This year she will be remembered for her purple hair on the night of our school dance. She became well known for her punctuality??? She is a very caring person. She plans to become a lawyer and will probably be a very good one. Well Sue we'll miss you and your Conmon Room actions!!! But good luck in the future and hope you stay in touch with the class of '80. CHRISTINA GREENAWAY: What can be said about 'Chris'? She joined us 4 years ago at the beginning of grade 9, and made herself a comfortable niche in our memories and our hearts. Academically, she shines among us and occasionally manages to blind us with the light of her accomplishments. A member of the Reach for the Top A team, Chris made her television debut and although her team lost, her effort was immeasureable. Chris has plans to enter the University of Win- nipeg next year, where we, her classmates, are sure she will succeed and progress to some fame. Now is the time to say, this is it, kid. We'll miss you and your warm smile and cheerful voice. Remember the fire extinguisher, Chris?? Best of luck always and remember to watch out for low operating tables!! NEERU GUPTA: Neeru Gupta - Ru has spent a grand total of 8 years at B.H. She disappeared after grades 1 and 2 only to return in grade 7. Her stay has been marked by consistently high academic achievement and willingness to assist fellow students in any subject. One of Mrs. Sabbadini's terrors Ru was under the misconception that the physicslchemistry lab was meant for 'wild' experiments and dances on the front desk. After these antics, however, she became more subdued in french class, where she slipped into a bon francais Parisien. Her melodious voice, and abilities to sing soprano, alto, descant and melody, often made it confusing to decide where she should be put. Chosen Miss India for Folklorama 1980, Neeru's beauty and talents have not gone unnoticed outside B.H. Next year she in- tends to study for medicine at U. of M. CHope the mischievous streak doesn't come out when you are a practicing surgeon, Rulj May you continue to meet success - your friends will remember you. Sill, ima, warg, lllghiat TRACY MACONICHIE: Tracy first graced our halls in grade seven, a little girl with ponytails and freckles. Well needless to say, we've come a long way, haven't we Tracy. Maconichie will always be remembered by her outstanding literary and theatrical talents. She has been a member of the drama and Reach for the Top teams and excelled in both. Many of Tracy's idio- syncracies will be missed, lunches will never be the same without Tracy's diet soft drinks. English class just wouldn't be English class without Tracy's opinionated voice booming above the rest, nor will we forget speed skating or Eric Heidon, will we Tracy? One could always see Tracy's scattered notes cluttering up the grade 12 bench and she was forever seen at 8:30 a.m. scrambling to finish those last few questions for history class. Amazingly enough though, through the confusion and disorganization she always managed to get her homework done. Tracy plans to pursue a career in computer science, if she can pass the calculas course, or she may also enter the English field. Whatever she decides to do we're sure she'll succeed. Good luck in the years to come Maconichie . LYDIA ODHIAMBO: Lydia joined us four short years ago from Kenya Africa. For her first couple of years, Lydia joined us as a boarder, then as a day student, living at her aunts, and finally this year she lived at her own home, as her parents also moved to Winnipeg this summer. During grades ten and eleven, Lydia was famous for her disco dancing and lessons throughout the halls and common room of B.H. Lydia is leaving us to pursue a career in interior design. The best of luck in the future, Lydia! TRACY MALONE: Tracy joined the B.H. family in 1974, and it didn't take long for her to adopt the craziness of her classmates. Not a day went by without a laugh or smile from Tracy. The familiar pattern of her TINY feet will be missed next year. Tracy was the only one that didn't spend endless days and nights wondering who to take to grad. QCongratulations Tracy!J Tracy has also been a great asset to the sports life at B.H. as she not only participated as a member, but also as a coach. Her future plans include attending the School of Crafts and Design at Sheridan College. We all look forward to the day Tracy returns to B.H. We know that you'll be a great success. Good luck Trace! SUSAN LEIBROCK: The B.H. halls were first blessed with Susan's catching grin in grade 8. After living in California for two years, she returned to B.H. to finish her grade eleven and twelve studies - you just couldn't keep away, could you Sue? This frequent patron at Squires always made her presence known when the grade twelves were up to their mischievous antics. Sue will always be remembered for her juicy pieces of gossip and her famous yellow Datsun - what character! And no one will ever forget her grade eleven party!! After grad Sue plans to return to her California home - we'll all visit you Sue! There she plans to become an occupational therapist at the University of California in San Francisco. Good Luck Susan! f'4l,f 1 I ' . 5.2. 1 .5- . ., , -.i .fe fr -n warg, 7 ua, iftgttltt illlttrgi EVA FUNG: Eva joined the B.H. nut house this year from Hong Kong. At the start of the year no one knew whether Eva's last name was Fung or Phone, it was soon discovered to be Phone. She is always very quiet, but no one can forget the fits that she throws in physics. Eva has already been accepted at Queen's University. Good Luck in the future. MARY WATERS: Mary joined our B.H. family two years ago. Her cheerful image is characterized by her perpetual warm, sweet and encouraging smile. People who have seen her drawings and art works can never deny that Mary is extremely creative and artistic. Mary's response and enthusiasm during Biology class show that she is interested in this field also. Right! She's considering to go into nursing. With her analytical mind, patience and prudence, we are sure that Mary can accomplish her goal. Not only is Mary a smart girl academically, but she is also doing fine in her love life which we all are concerned with as she shares her romance with us! LYALA DOUCETTE: Lyala joined the B.H. family in Grade 9. She spent a half- year in residence and more than made her mark. Lyala and her blanket were found in the common room more often than not. Lyala's thanks to the graduating class was a Bar-b-que, held at her home at the end of the graduation weekend. She thanked them for an excellent four years, and we're thanking her. Good luck in your pursuits, we'll miss you! I Qlmzilg, megan, Anne, Svhelleg JOCELYN PIEFER: Our electric cow-girl, straight from Nipawin Sask., joined the B.H. family two years ago. With a little help from Kermit, Piefer was Ballater's 79- 80 Super - House head. As one of the class athletes, we always wondered if those ilmortal sweats ran on their own steam. J oc was a coffee-queen attendant and was always trying to quit She never stopped interrupting with excuses for her mean streak , or obnoxious chomps of trident. Our Arizona-princess will be missed as she is off to tamper with computers at perhaps U. of M. We wish you the best of luck Jocy-poo! CECILY SHELDON: Cecily joined our Balmoral Hall family as a resident member from Ear Falls, Ontario in grade 9. We have transformed that shy little country girl into a rambunctious city city girl. Whee can be found at the Roller Rink nearly every weekend. Cec was never one to miss house games in fact we could always find her in the centre of the gym floor cheering her Braemar house. Cec was also a member of the Junior Varsity Volleyball Team for two years. Cecily plans to enter the faculty of Nursing this fall. MEGAN GLASSCO: Meags , our athletic Craig Gowan House Head has been here since kindergarten and, come to think about it, she's still the same size, the only thing that grew was her mouth. She can always be heard first and then seen. What would Monday morning be like without Megan's favorite Andilee, Andilee, Aribah, Aribah! fprobably very tollerablelj Who could forget her talented acts of sheer coordination such as moving her desk from the back of the English room to the front. Her ambition is to become a lawyer and she'll probably be successful if she doesn't trip on the rug when it's her turn to cross-examine the witness. Being at B.H. since kindergarten, it's hard to decide who will miss who the most: Megan will miss the school or the school will miss Megan! Good Luck and see you in Law School! ANNE O'SULLIVAN: Anne, from Ontario joined the residence crew in Grade ll. Since then, she has been an active member of school life by participating in such activities as yearbook, choir and drama. This year Anne has been the second library prefect of B.H. and has done a wonderful job! Anne has been a warm and friendly person and is definitely famous at B.H. for her unceasing smile that lights even the darkest corner. By simply considering the enormous appetite that Anne possesses, one may wonder, How does that girl keep such a trim figure? Well it just so happens that Anne is a believer in the fitness of the mind as well as the body. Not only has she done exceptionally well academically also making her debut in Reach for the Top, but she can often be seen jogging down Wellington Cres. through rain, sleet or snow - and loving it! She and Mme. Dammerman take the cake for being the cross-country skiers of the year. Anne is joining the U. of Trent in Sep- tember to pursue a career in Political Science. Keep smiling Anne, your friends will miss you. SHELLEY MATTHEWS: Our recruit from Saint Mary's came to B.H. in Grade 10, shy and quiet. Now she's in Grade 12, outgoing and loquacious. Shelley has distinguished herself in all sports. She even took on the formidable task of teaching her little darlings gymnastics. On the previous ski trip to Thunder Bay, Shelley was finally able to perfect her parallel skiing. One thing that we'll never be able to figure out is Shelley's mysterious rash in the winter. The cold could not have been the cause as Shelley was always kept warm with an enviable wardrobe of hand-knit sweaters. We all know Shelley cannot wait to attend the U. of M. to study Physical Education and guys , We'll miss you, Luv-ya! Qilnaing 7 xertimzz M4 I, Q ...Ji bfi? .,:., I ,J -. Jill Bradley .....
