Language Ms. Demartini looks over Sandy Dignan’s work. Mr. Grillo — I« « f In April 1979, Mr. Bouton and Ms. Demartini accompanied a group to France. The first part of our trip was through Normandie, a province in northern France. One of the highlights was a day at Mont St. Michel; an island at high tide and a peninsula at low tide surrounded by miles of quicksand. An ancient abbey built into the top of the rock island was later a prison and is now a museum. For centuries travelers have followed the one winding path up the mountain, dining at world famous restaurants whose specialties are omelets, lamb and seafood and stopping in the shops along the way. Our bus driver Ren6 was truly remarquable” as he raced through the narrow streets of Paris singing and stopping at cafes for some wine. Allison, our guide, was a constant source of information as we admired the City of Lights (Paris); Notre-Dame cathedral, Montmartre (the artists square), the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. Riding the metro (subway), sitting in sidewalk cafes and seeing the masterpieces in the Louvre museum were unforgettable experiences. In the evenings we strolled along the quais eating pastries, watching jugglers and fire-eaters and of course boogying at the Disco and seeing the Folies Berg res. An excursion to Chartres cathedral and the immense stone chateaux built by French kings, a look at the enormous palace of Versailles with its Hall of Mirrors and acres of gardens built by Louis XIV, made the trip complete. We sometimes had to do without a shower, a steak with ketchup or enough sleep but we were all sad when the time came to say au revoir and return home. Members of the group were; John Bolton, Polly Bolton, Lisa Cardinali, Cheri Bohme, Mark Coulter, Linda DiBlasio, Robert Bonar, Kilburn Fulton, Judy Hansman, Missy Hollister, Lynn Neth, Harry Monaco, Greg Robitaille, Amy Paddock, Jeff Matties, Paul Sausville, Robert Spellman, Denise Taber, Debbie Weekl, Vicki Ure, Margi Wright, Tammie Schober, Mrs. McCanty, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Childe, Mrs. Pemrick, Ms. Cinella. 26
