'Dedication We, the Senior Class of 1955 dedicate this yearbook to our friend and teacher, Mr, William Scott, who has tried to impress upon our minds the true meaning of sportsmanship and fair play, which will carry over into our adult life and make us better citizens. The biographies of most of the outstanding people in history have one thing in common. Success came to them because they were willing to put their best effort into menial and often distasteful tasks with which they were faced. Usually one who does exceptionally fine work in connection with minor jobs is given greater responsibilities and the rewards which go with them. To the Class of 1955 I would say: When you enter the world of work, be willing to start at the bottom and to devote your full effort and enthusiasm to your beginning employment even though some of the work may be distasteful to you. To the underclassmen I would say: Every day each of you is faced with tasks we would like to avoid. The person who attacks these things with a will, has time to do the things he likes to do and has the satisfaction of a job well done. If, while you are in school, you develop this habit, you will enhance your chances for success and happiness in the future. yearbook Staff Advisor-------------- Editor - -- -- -- - Assistant Editor----- Business Manager - -Advertising Manager Circulation Manager An Editor----------- - Photography - - - - « Literary Staff------- ■----Mrs. MacWilliams ------ Audrey Wilbur -------- - Ene Inno ------ Dorothy Keeler Rita Bohme ----------Joan Perrino John Lawler John Lawler, Jim McHale, Milo Matrazzo, Orville Curtis? - - Sheila Hennessy, Ec Hamil, Joan Perrino James McHale, Audrey Wilbur Junior Class Editors Tonita Ferradino Lissa Leland “Our Ceaders Superintendent DR. We are grateful for the assistance she has given us. Her sense of humor has made our problems seem much lighter. Mr. Marino has helped us greatly and we are indebted to him for all the advice he has given to us. Mr. Marino has been a swell friend to all. Both Mrs. Marino and Mr. Marino are very well liked by the Senior Class, and we would like to thank them for giving up their free time to help us. We all seemed to be in a world of out own until we reached seventh grade. Junior high school was difficult to adjust to at first but after a few weeks it became just another thing. Some of us joined clubs and music activities such as orchestra and band. Our seventh grade brought many opportunities. Eighth grade became routine. In our first year of high school, ninth grade, members of the Dramatic Club presented two plays during the year. The plays, College Days and Poor Papa starred Karen Vail, Jean Glasgow, Warren Clements, Pearl Cull, Maureen Lundgren, Lawrence Brown, Sheila Hennessy, Bromley Griffin, Gary O'Brien, Carol Fusco, Richard Beers, and John Lawler. Many of our classmates that came to Ballston from Round Lake schools left us when the Shendahowa School was built. In ninth grade we elected Bromley Griffin, John Lawler, Patricia McDonough and Lawrence Brown to the offices of the class. In ninth grade we witnessed our first class day, which to us was a wonderful experience. We read our brief history, which stated our will and prophecy. At the closing of our class day we sang our class song which was composed by Sheila Hennessy. The exams were hard and our report cards told the story. Most of us got by and then there were our commencement exercises which was what we were looking forward to. In our Sophomore year we elected Mary Jane Andrews, President; John Lawler, Vice President; Patricia McDonough, Secretary; and Lawrence Brown, Treasurer. This year sports were one of our more important interests. Richard Goble, Ed Hamil, Ronnie Campbell, George Nowhitney, Larry Brown, Milo Matrazzo, Bob Schmidt, Jim McHale, Faust Salvato, Arly Uline, Bob French and Francis Ascenzo helped a great deal in keeping our class well represented in football, basketball and baseball. Our sophomore year offered more opportunities for joining chorus and service club. Our junior year was more active than the previous years. Our rings were the first of jobs to undertake. The ring committee consisted of Joan Perrino, Orville Curtiss, and Robert French. The committee helped us with our decision on which class ring to choose. On December 18, 1953, the last day of school before Christmas vacation, our class rings arrived. We were all so proud of them, that we couldn't help but boast or our wise decision. Trying to build up our class treasury reserve was always our main objective. In our junior year we sold basketball pencils and a soda committee was chosen to work at the basketball games. Patricia McDonough, Sandra Dunster, Sheila Hennessy, Bob Schmidt, Jim McHale, Audrey Wilbur, Milo Matrazzo, Joan Perrino and Robert French were all in there selling soda to earn money for the class. Our Junior Prom was a wonderful example of our artistic ability, with the most credit due to Mr. Rock. The theme was Guatama. But our best year was still to come. During the class day exercises for the year of '54 we moved down to take the place of honor as Seniors in the auditorium. Miss Ropke finished her last year as librarian and Mrs. Morrow took the place of Miss Dovas as physical education teacher. Members of our class helped contribute their athletic ability to our winning the title of Saratoga County League Championship. Our class was well represented by Carole Fischoff, Carol Fusco and Mary Jane Andrews as cheerleaders. Our final bit of history is our most important, it being the Senior Year. Our football and basketball teams were supported by cheerleaders and fans. We were the first class not to have Miss Sidney as our Citizenship Education teacher. Mrs. Nichols took the place of Miss Sidney and Mr. Cinella took the place of Mrs. Nichols. Mr. Cinella became the boys' homeroom teacher and everyone really accepted Mr. Cinella as a swell guy. The girls had Mrs. MacWilliams as homeroom teacher and enjoyed their talks and guidance with her. We sold Christmas and All-Occasion cards for our personal accounts. Rita Bohme was put in charge of handling the cards. Plans are busily being prepared for the annual Washington trip the seniors take. Our Senior Play, Gramercy Ghost was a great success. John Lawler, Warren Clements, Joan Clemens, Carole Fischoffe, Pearl Cull, Robert French, Orville Curtiss, and Mary Lou Salvato starred in the play. We were the first class to hold a dance at die South Street Auditorium. This was an accident, but turned out to be liked by everyone. Our new librarian was Miss Jorgesen. Now we are looking forward to going to Washington, our Senior banquet, dancing at the Junior Prom and hard work and study so we will all be able to say we graduated from good old B. S. H. S. Senior Class Prophecy It's sensational, dynamic, the greatest ever the new T. P. T. production of Memories. The three act play will be shown Saturday evening on channel M. V. T. at 8 p. m. The featured players are alumni of the class of '55 of Ballston Spa High School. It had taken a considerable length of time to cast this TV performance because of gradual changes in station; such as: Mrs. Clarence Canfield the former Pearl Coon was located at Broadalbin. She now is the mother of a sweet little girl. Lawrence Brown is now the treasurer for the New York Giants Championship Football Team. The team, since his appointment, is in debt $5, 000. Fred Winnie has recently been appointed to the position of Dean at Cornell College. Orville Curtiss was located in Albany. Sorry we had to break up his Tuesday night rendezvous. Mary Jane Andrews Hodsoll was found knitting booties. Roy hopes it's a baby. Rita Bohme and Jerry Stickles were cruising around in Rita’s car. Good thing the light changed or we wouldn’t have been able to catch up with her. Jets, you know! Francis Ascenzo has been working at the local theater at Ballston Spa, selling bubble gum to anyone who can give proof of age by draft cards or some such evidence. We had a difficult time persuading Richard Goble to be George's understudy. John Lawler is still filling out applications for college. He will play the part of a college playboy in our-presentation, he simply was bom for the part. Oh, now you probably will remember that quiet boy, let's see, George Nowhitney if 1 remember right. He plays the pan of a professor at a near-by college. Skidmore, I think they call it. Pearl Cull is playing in the orchestra at the new Ballston Spa Central High School. Edward Hamil is giving flying lessons and will fly from Round Lake to Ballston Spa via Lavery Air Lines to make his appearance. Audrey Wilbur is appearing twice nightly in a popular show The Dancing Men at Lake George. She was kind enough to break her engagement there to appear with the troop. Patricia Nestor Clark is busy with little Bucky. SJie's teaching him how to behave properly while riding the school bus. She plays the part of a naughty school girl who chews bubble gum. Joan DeLong was located in Paris making love to a Poodle (excuse me - misprint) a Pierre Mendes France. He keeps singing Let Me Go, Lover but she’s taking James McHale’s famous tonic Strongo Pepo Ugh. James, by the way, is being brought home from a homestead in Helsinki after an over dose of Strongo Pepo Ugh. When asked, upon his arrival, if he had any comment, his only answer was Ugh! Fiances Whitaker has been promoted to Major-General in the Morale Division of the Air Force. She will secure a thirty day leave from Ketchums Comers Radar Station. We hope our show will not interfere with her line of duty. Lorraine Rutkowki is a foreign exchange student for the Lonely Hearts Club. She said she's bringing back a souvenir. Could IT be Dave? Hm----------------I wonder. Robert Schmidt is a popular song writer; he just finished his latest, Blue Danube Waltz. His navy career was the inspiration for the tune. I'm sure you've heard it before. Ray LaPoint is singing the selection on Amos label records. Forgot to mention, thanks to Ray, it's No. Ion the Hit Parade. Inseparable that pair! Pat McDonough was engaged several different times to one guy. She married him and now she's boss. John doesn’t seem to mind. He's going to diet on Strongo Pepo Ugh too. He'll show her who’s boss pretty soon. Pat Barnes is the cook at Taylor's Coffee Shop. Food quality is lower, prices are higher, and Pat is prosperous. Jeanne Older is learning to make spaghetti. They always say The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Only hope that Mike appreciates it. William Hudson just recently discovered a river near Albany. He has had White's Beach moved to that location and is making money hand over fist. Mary Lou Salvato was located in Canada. She borrowed Rita's jet propelled car and has joined up with Ward Beam. Mr. Bartholdi always knew she'd make the road. Milo Mat-razzo has been caught in a web and is advertising for a trustworthy spider to untangle him. Marion Baker has applied for the job, however, she never cared much for the art of spinning when she starred in The Homemaker of the Year. Ask Miss Martin. Sheila Hennessy always loved children so she established an orphanage for any male child between the ages of 21 and 35. All her little BOYS love her, and why not. She was asked to comment on her little boys upon her arrival at the studio, and she said, and I quote They are all such sweet helpless darlings, and you know Charity begins at home. Warren Clements is playing the part of Super Mouse for Walt Disney's new production It’s a Man, It’s a Mouse, No, It's Warren. He is swarmed by a group of autograph hunters on location in the African jungle during Head Season. Carole Fischoff has graduated from teachers college and is teaching boys to become men. She is working for her Master's Degree. Ronald Campbell has become a notable philanthropist. He has just given 12, 000 cans of soup to the Ladies Aid Society, and it is rumored that he will present the cook for the society a gold stained can opener. A Flea and Elephant act for French's circus is being considered. Robert French was looking for a job at Coleman's Circus. When Fred refused him a job, he bought out the circus. Now Fred is pushing the broom. Joan Perrino has been teaching elephants the art of balance and ballet. Her partner, William Svoboda is teaching fleas to jump. French wants the act for his opening night at the Malta Avenue Revue. Arlie Uline is growing grass near the Morning Kill. He’s been selling his product to Edna Forbes. She designs skirts now and Beverly Noyes is modeling them for the army for operation Heat Wave. These skirts are vital for the country's defense. What country it hasn't been said, and I do not wish to comment on this matter at the present time. Carol Fusco is demonstrating the proper method of cleaning teeth over TV. She is working for the Plastic Research Foundation of Chile. There isn’t a discontented shorthorn on Lang's farm since Carol has returned from college. Oh, to be a cow again, that's what Hamburg said when he heard that Carol was back. Joan Clemens is a nurse for the YMCA swimming league. When a guy goes overboard for her, Dave swims out and drowns him. Joan in return applies the pressure: of course, we mean artificial respiration. Dave can never get ahead. Anybody got an extra head he doesn't want. Margaret McIntosh is running a distillery for fermented lipstick. She has employed Faust Salvato, a FKS(Federal Kissed Sampler), for her director of Taste Statistic Bureau. Ene Inno is busy making a chemical analysis of a lipstick remover now on the market. Faust used the remover and now is minus a pair of lips. Heidi Jakobson has been a big help to Faust. She has manufactured a pair of plastic lips that will hold their shape under all conditions. Aritta Scripter will be in charge of scenery. She is painting one set orange with blue flecks. This ought to irk one of the players. Although, the furniture will be pinky-purple, so it won't be such a shock to her as she is very sensitive to color. The ticket money is being taken care of by Dorothy Keeler, Dorothy is honest and trustworthy: so Sergeant Irene Rhodes of die F. B. I. has been hired by the TV studio to shadow her. The studio has been very considerate of both parties. JoAnn Maheu rode to the studio on a prancing white stallion. She keeps insisting she would be a natural for Napoleon, but Brando wants her to play Lady Godiva. The 4-H has agreed to lease Mabel Seeley to the studio. She will demonstrate Cheese Tricks on the German Cheese Hour. It will be a magnificent performance as the players are a swell group who have been gratefully gifted by God with talents, each in his own field. So until Saturday evening at 8 p. m. on channel M. V. T. for the T. P. T. production of Memories sponsored by the Shaggy Dog Guild for homeless shags; 1 remain your ever faithful reporter Bridget No'Nothing Caroline Ascenzo Henry Baker Carol Barnes Nanette Beatty Joseph Bena Ronald Betor Marion Blake Diliene Brackett Donald Bragg William Brien Virginia Brown Patricia Brundige Velta Buss Mary Carson Betty Charctrand John Chard John Clute Ronald Clute Jean Coleman Theresa Conte Paul Cooney Judy Cunningham Norman Curtiss Oscar Curtiss Geraldine DellaPorta John Dewey Duane Dorr Paul DuBois Janet Dushensky Agnes Dymond Daniel Fitzgerald Patricia Fitzgerald Marie Forbes John Funiciello Suzanne Funston Eulalia Garrison Garith Gilbert Bruce Gray Gladys Green Robert Gueperoux Elaine Hamil Samuel Hannah Rose Haskell Margaret Hogan Thomas Irwin Serge Iwashyna Arthur Jaeger Jacqueline Jenkins Paul Kempf Dawn King Irving LaDucer James Lane Jane Lawler Jane LaQue Lissa Leland Thomas Lincoln Carol MacFee Elizabeth MacMillin Kenneth Me Mann Kathryn Miller Richard Miron Bernard Monaco Patsy Monaco Sandra Nitchman Dorothy Nowhitney Alice Older James Palombo Frank Pastore Helen Pastore Robert Perrino David Randall Richard Robinson Robert Robinson Rhea Ryan Marilyn Scherer William Sutfin Edwin Thompson John Tranka Diane Vaughn Beatrice Vedder Ruth Vickery Marilyn Weaver Paul Werner Thomas Whalen Karen Whittaker Raymond Williams Margaret Zeininger Norman Allen Carrie Andrews Charlotte Austin Diane Baker Barbara Barnes Gary Baumgartner Marie Benson Frederick Brackett Grant Chambers Marie Charboneau Eldrid Christiansen Claudia Cobart Robert Cornell Sandra Craft Philomena DeFilippo Janice Deyo Shirley DiPasquale Carolyn Dorr Carol Ferris John Flinton Verna French Thomas Funiciello Evelyn Fusco William Griffin Joan Haskell Geraldine Hennessy Judy Heritage Ronald Herrick Joyce Hitchcock Robert Hoyt Fannie Huber Basil Iwashyna Daniel Jackson Nancy Kanter John Kibec Carol King Barbara Maccardy Thomas Maheu Madeline Martin Marlene Martin Elizabeth Merrihew Anita McDonough Carol Miron William Miron Robert Monaco Donna Morris Jane Mosca Patricia Murphy Charles Murtlow Terry Ostrander Sharon Post Anna Mae Potter Richard Schiavo Arlene Schnars Elaine Schnars Arthur Scholz Judy Sheehy Barbara Simon Judy Sirocco George Solotruck Anthony Spensieri Ronald Surdyka Herbert Taylor Mary Tomack Gail Tritt Shirley West James Zebko Dorothy Albright Martha Anderson William Andrews Thelma Armer Carl Baker John Baker Rosalie Barnes Jeanne Beatty Joan Beatty Rosemarie Caputo Carolyn Carey Allan Carpenter Neil Carpenter Barbara Chase Edward Close Frank Conte Claudia Cook Richard Cram Robert Cromie Gilbert DeLucia Joan Desadora Mary DiPasquale William Edwards Joann Ellis William Esmond Harry Fillmore Lester Fitzgerald Donna Fulton Shirley Garrison Kathleen Geren Jean Gillette Diane Gray James Green Barbara Hall George Hannah Mary Lou Hansen Martin Hart Dennis Healey Stephen Healey Jessie King Jane Hosier Joan Hudson Monika Jakobson Donna Jenks John Keator Carol Keeler David Keister John Kennedy Alva Kilbum James King Carl Knuth Arthur Lequandi Rosemary McElroy Thomas McHale Krista Megalaitis Kenneth Merchant Rosalie Mitchell Roger Morris John Namack Ronald Nelson Patricia Nertney Clifford Noyes Robert Noyes George Oliver Michael Orlyk Fred Ostrander Carol Peck Michael Polacko Lorinda Porter Kenneth Potter Francis Prunier Arlene Quinn Stuart Rafferty Patrick Ravena Rosemary Reilly Ronald Rhodes Irene Richards Linda Rose John Ryan Ronald Rybicki Paul Schaeffer Roger Sebast Laura Seeley Gail Sheft Evelyn Shirdon James Simmons Carl Smith Thomas Smith Carleton Stewart James TaDer Lynn Thomas Wayne Twiss Judy VanBuren Richard Vanyo Charlene Vaughn Elizabeth Weaver Joan Weaver Mary Wescott Judy Winters Paul Wojtowecz Patrick Zepko George Ziraks Orchestra Directed by MRS.
