We are thankful for their personal guidance, for the advances made in the education facilities, equipment, and extra curricular functions that are associated with our school life. lt is our sincere hope that we as students will maintain the worthwhile traditions of our pre- decessors and that we will be able to assume the responsibility of maintaininga sound educa- tional program when we take our place in the world of tomorrow. .4 X fn- f-X mr rmsr nmouu mu SCHCOL BCJARD Allen Davls C.A. 'X sl - S L The organization known as the Future Farmers of America, or in short, The l-',l4'.A., is anorganization of boys that have an interest in all phases of agriculture. Many of these boys plan to farm and ranch, while many plan to be business leaders, lawyers, politicians, or enter other vocations, yet the basic knowledge received in this organization will acquaint and benefit them with a better understanding of the farm economy of our nation. Agri- culture is the backbone of our economy, and the general population of our people are be- coming more enlightened to the need of a general knowledge of our economy in order to be successful in any chosen field. It is with this thought in mind that boys studying vocational agriculture attain basic well-rounded training in general agriculture education and advanced up-to-date agriculture techniques. The classroom work is usually held in a less formal manner than most courses because problems are discussed both pro and con, technical information is sought, and a decision 'BMHFA' ,sq is -., 1:- -4. out 3 yn ' ,. -vi. f . Informal field trips are often held when specific techniques need to be demonstrated. Boys also learn the proper Way to hold and conduct meetings, study soil conservation, study breeds of all animals of livestock and poultry, livestock management, livestock judging, farm manage- ment, feeds and feeding, range plant identification, and record bookkeeping. The older boys, commonly know as V,A, IV boys, spend their time studying gentics, farm management, technical farm skills, acetylene welding, electric Welding, and certain other shop skills. It is the aim and purpose of the Agriculture Department of the Ballinger High School to stay abreast with the changes in agriculture, and to keep its students Well informed of the modern trends, methods, and techniques used in the field of agriculture today. 1.-.. - ,HA .pq . To hold the charter the National Thespians must obtain six new members each year. To become a member a student must earn ten points, which are obtained by stage management, make-up work, or directing. The future Thespians, who are working for these points are called Neophytes. The Society supervises an lnterscholastic League contest play, and elects a Best Thespian of the Year, NEOPHYTES NATIO L H0 CR SCDCIETY ! r I i-U Q Character, scholarship, leadership, and service are the four objectives to be upheld by the members of the National Honor Society. It is the duty of these people to inspire and lead others in a way that will always be worthy of a fine person. Among the many worthwhile things this society does is to help others in high school who are falling behind in their studies, to try in every way to be examples for others to follow, and at all times to be honest and fair in all the dealings they come in contact with each day. These are the duties performed by the members of this outstanding scholastic organization.
