I C) ass 3fighfights WE WERE FRESHMEN... Randy Scott was elected president. We were the last Freshman Class to have a cheerleader to serve her Freshman year on the squad. Mr. Miller served his first year as coach at Ballard. Eight of us had all A's” for a semester average. WE WERE SOPHOMORES... Niki Matlock served as class president. Twenty-seven of us became Beta Club members. Mrs. Travis, Sophomore English Teacher, died in an automobile accident. We were the only Sophomore class to have five English teachers in one year. Our school became a member of the Southern Association of Secondary Schools. The Future Business Leaders of America was organized. WE WERE JUNIORS... Gary Coleman was chosen as our president. We sold $2, 089 in Stanley products and light bulbs. The class play presented was The Importance of Being Ear' nest. ' Eddie Faye was elected Student Council president. WE WERE SENIORS... Gary Coleman was chosen as our president. We sold $2,200 in magazines for our active year. We were the first class to receive the new rings. Phyllis Turner was chosen Miss Ballard Beacon. Our Senior play was Annie Get Your Gun.
