CLASS OF 1961 Soon the seniors of 1960-61 will bid farewell to their beloved Alma Mater. Though small in size, our class has won its share of recognition and honors. Among our members are leaders, athletes, speakers, and musicians. As evidence of our leadership abilities, we can proudly state that the presidents of twelve school organizations are seniors. A number have held various offices, and all of our class members have been active in various organizations. During our junior year two of us were members of the debate team when it held the number-two position in the region. Together they won fourteen out of nineteen superior ratings in speaking events. One has very deservedly won the state speaking contest at the Kentucky State Fair. Musically talented, a number of our seniors have contributed much to the school’s music program. At present, one member, holding two superior ratings in piano from Murray State College, has had the honor of appearing with Liberace. Excelling in athletics, our boys have earned thirteen letters in baseball and basketball. One of our present cheerleaders has recently been elected for the fourth year. Another accomplishment which we are very proud of is our magazine sales which have amounted to more than nineteen hundred dollars, a goal never before attained by a senior class. The happy memories of the past four years will linger long in our hearts; and as we leave Ballard Memorial, we hope that our class will be remembered as one of determination, promise, and spirit. by LANA TRICE
