With this, our first attempt, we beg your indulgence as we tell our story in words and pictures. The Tiger Staff sincerely hopes that within these pages you will find many hours of pleasure. May each glimpse bring to you the fragrance of sweet remembrance. Not even the man himself realized the role that he was to play in the educational future of many Macon- ites, nor the extent to which he would influence their lives. Because of the dynamic way in which he has served and the good that he has done for many people, we dedicate the 1960 TIGER to Principal R. J. Martin and to all of the graduates of the Ballard-Hudson Senior High School. Mr. Martin, a native of Mobile, Alabama, received the Bachelor of Sci- ence degree from Talladega College, Talladega, Alabama; the Master of Arts degree from Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee and did further study at Columbia University and the University of Oklahoma. His training and years of experience have enabled him to perform efficiently his immediate duties as a high school principal, as well as participate in and contribute to the growth and development of many civic, fraternal and professional organizations, ® Although Mr. Martin has entered his second score of years as an educa- tional leader, The Tiger staff looks forward to his continued contribution to the educational life of boys and girls. 4 pe AM a “i, Pra Rs qe 1 enna et sapihanigg sab gata es en i Pires PRINCIPAL R. J. MA Pleasantry does blend with hard work. Few men could wear such a broad smile, after more than twenty years of successful school administration. COUNSELOR R. J. WILLIAMS Our counselor is good at solving the many problems that arise in our daily school life. MRS, ALTHEA L. JOHNSON Secretary to the Principal takes time out to check on delinquent student. SUPERINTENDENT’S@ MESSAGE Congratulations to the Senior Class of 1960, to the Faculty, Administration and to the good people of our community who helped in many ways to make possible this first edition of a yearbook, On its pages will be recorded some of the most valuable, pleasant and meanipgful experiences in the lives of the people mentioned therein. For the past four years this Senior Class has worked toward the objective of gradua- tion from high school. As they near the realization of this goal, my best wishes go out to all of them. Sincerely, Gulaus) Fofoleop PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE As principal of Ballard-Hudson High School, I could not do less than offer sin- cere congratulations to the Senior Class of 1960 for helping to make the dream of a yearbook at Ballard-Hudson become a re- ality. By this effort we are able to keep alive the kindred feelings of the Ballard- Hudson family through words and pictures. As the years go by may you take this book from the shelf and mentally renew old ac- quaintances though you be miles apart. We live during“Ways that will be very colorful on the pages.of history. As a part of a people whose‘destiny is yet to be told may you accept the challenge to prove your worth through worthwhile contributions. FACULTY MRS, BRUNETTA J.
