Construction is the primary record 7?ifL,.gf 1f . S 0 A ff 2 Jeff? .- ,, L , MLW e wfqf , f,y .6715 f- C 4' ,f Seattle builds for higher learning. of a nation's culture Since the dawn of civilization, man has been building for the future. The present is no ex- ception. Every way you look, everywhere you turn, you find yourself confronted with con- truction cranes, steel girders, and steam shovels. Seattle itself has been the scene of numerous changes this past year. Among the maior ones are the new library, the post office, the twenty- one story Norton Building, an addition to the National Bank of Commerce, and, of course, the Seattle freeway in its early stages. Growing iust as rapidly, but on a smaller scale, is the Ballard community. Springing up on every corner and vacant lot are supermarkets, dress shops, retail stores, gas stations, apartment houses, and family residences to accommodate Seattle's steadily increasing population. With these many city-wide changes occurring, the modernization of Ballard High School is of primary interest to the students since this is the first complete remodeling of the school since 1914. During this time of reconstruction, the Ballard High students have learned that building character within themselves is a more immense task than constructing a building or a bridge. Ballard High School students are achieving this goal as they step forward to meet the future. Bi 'Til Ballard builds to make more learning possible.
