Schools Celebrate Seattlefv Birtllclay THE BALLARD STORY was produced by the music, drama, dance and art departments, for Ballardls Night at Seattle Public Schools, Centennial Exhibition at the Civic Auditorium November 14. Since Ballard is a section of the city traditionally and romantically associated with fishing and lumbering, and with Scandinavian culture, the produc- tion featured Scandinavian dances, and the church service traditionally held for fishermen at the opening of fishing season. Recordings by Ballard's orchestra were heard in the program. A mural for the stage was made by the art depart- ment. Ballard teachers serving on All-City Faculty Centennial Committees were: Miss Charlton, music, Mr. Jensen, ull- vit-y-lazznrlg Miss Quigley, Sjnmisb, Miss Sliper, liliraryg Mr. Glaser, Sl'lC'I1L'f'j Mrs. Rodenhouse, first aid. lid Krahn portrays a philosophical Hsherman when he narrates for Ballard Daysu, stage production, at Seattle Schools' Centennial lix- hibition November I4 at the Civic Auditorium. Social and Square Dancing Members, in Scandinavian Costumes, danced Swedish and Norwegian folk dances for The Ballard Story on the stage at the Civic Auditorium for Seattle Schools' Centennial Show.

'th pen House at Civic Auditorium liAl,l,AllD STUDENTS proudly participated in preparing and presenting the SCHOOL CENTENNUXL EXPOSI- TION of 1951. Nearly 55,000 visitors crowded the aisles, and applauded the dramatic presentations. A spirit of team- work and cooperation prevailed, making the Exposition .1 real success. Other Community-School cooperative projects of 1951- 1952 Qboth new this yearj were: VOCATIONAL CON- FERENCE Day, March 18, when thirty professional and business leaders explained and discussed opportunities in their fields to all Ballard students, in conference groups. BUSINESS-EDUCATION DAY , May 8, which gave stu- dents a holiday so that teachers could spend the day as guests of Seattle businesses.
