Acting as compasses to the new captains are Mr. johnson and Mr. Van Devanter. This year saw replacements in almost every department. Miss Harsch, the new counselor, has been kept busy by the ques- tions ol' the students about their programs. credits and choice of college. Miss Mac- Donald, a '47 graduate, is now the office clerk. Miss Moe. who taught physical edu- cation, left at the end of the first semester and was replaced by Mrs. Rodenhouse. The instrumental position in the music depart- ment was filled by Mr. Orien johnson. Wed- ding bells rang for Miss Dorothy B. Coulter when she married Mr. T. Stewart Smith. former music teacher at Ballard. Mrs. Wright took over play production when Mrs. Smith resigned. Long a home economics teacher, Miss Dodge took the position of visitor this semester and turned over her classes to Mrs. Rue. A switch in departments was made when Mr. Clark changed from history to English and Mrs. Brannen was assigned to history classes. Also joining the faculty were Miss Johnston, art, Mrs. Gasparovich, mathematics, and Mr. Henning, botany. HEBER D. JOHNSON, Principal-Along with his duties at school this year he represented the Seattle High School Principals' Association at the American Association of School Administrat- ors in Atlantic City. AARON T. VAN DEVAN- TER, Vice-Principal-He enjoys a respite from counseling the bench-warmers by vacationing in the wilds of the Olympic Peninsula. I4
