Conferred Summer graduation ceremonies witnessed the commence- ment of 840 students. A milestone in Ball State history occurred with the conferring of the first Ph.D. degree. Dr. Elvis Stahr, president of Indiana University, was the featured speaker for the commencement held in the M'en's Gymnasium. The total granted for June and August, 1964, was 2,014 master, bachelor, education specialist, and Ed.D degrees-an increase over 1963. 25
