And51'the, way you looked me I Eighth Grader Wins Poetry Award The Sixth Annual All -School Poetry contest, sponsored jointly by the BLACKHAWK Yearbook stai and the English department, was won for the first time by an eighth grader, Korrie Tahara. I-Ier poem is printed below. The sec- ond and third place winners were: Sharon Waxman and Tracy Stimson, both ninth graders. Honorable mention were awarded to Brenda Antrim, Libby Hemzacek, Linda Mitchell, Gigi Nunes , and Alicia Siegall. The Chess Club is part of the Orange County junior High League which is made up of 26 other teams. The club meets twice a week and competes among themselves. They play in various matches throughout the year. Their advisor is Mrs. Schaefer. TOP ROW -Vera judge, Carla Possemato, Emil Tumulo, Mrs. Schaefer. BOTTOM ROW - Pat Bova, Paul Davies, Dan Beyerbach, Ben Hood. NOT SHOWN - Chris Beyerbach, Richard Gomez, Don Wade, Robert Horn, Phillip Allinger. The drama club is made up of those students who are able to demonstrate their talent through acting. It takes many long hours of hard work to prepare and perform just one of their productions. The club is sponsored this year by Mr. Don Ellis. He is very active and involved in drama and we appreciate his effort in working with the stu- dents.
