When it carne time to dedicate the '77 BLACKHAWK, we tried to think of someone who has conuibuted greatly to the faculty, student body, and spirit of Ball Junior High. It didn't take long to decide on such a person. Not only has she been an outstanding teacher, but she has been a wonderful friend to hundreds of students. We humbly dedicate the '77 BLACKHAWK to Mrs. Helen Absher whom We will always remember. s if I -1090 I-H120 5 D110 f-Il'50 Cr dw gb ' 1340 Blunkz I- 32.40 if!-30 , an . The final game of the year was with South on October 28. After a fantastic assembly and unbelievable school spirit, the game ended in an 8-8 tie. When the team was up, they played an outstanding brand of basketball, showing great desire and ability. The Blackhawks participated in the Junior High Holiday Tournament, hosted by South junior High, and put together a great team effort in winning the championship posting wins against both East and West division champions, South and Walker. , One of the best games of the season was played on our home court against Sycamore and resulted in a triple overtime. Both Coach Payne and Assistant Coach Redington feel that the team learned a great deal of sound, fundamental basketball along with achieving poise and stability in very stressful situations. The game was very exciting, but ended with the faculty ahead by a nose. The game was sponsored by THE ORDER Y Club. Half- time was just as exciting as the game itself. First of all, the girls were challenged by the women of the faculty. The girls proved to be too much of a challenge as they won 6-2. After the girls, the Loara High School Valkyries did a routine for the audlence. It was a fun and eventful evening for everyone. lvuwez 7.4 ',,,,-1 r . VIZ? P 1 ?f'iig t O8 1? Ball won this meet by a hair. Trident was next. We didn't run too well in that meet, Trident Won by a considerable margin. After the tough defeat, we were all fired up for the Dale meet, and won by 38 points. After Dale we met Brookhurst and lost in the end.
